Updated Pool Plan:(pending baby)

Today: finish filling pool

To do over weekend:
1) check out filter (deep clean sand?)

2) Remove sludge and worm friends.

2) officially open pool
- test pump
- check for leaky pipes
- remove jet covers
-hope, pray, cross fingers

4) Test kit supposedly in Saturday, maybe take test Sunday?

4th child syndrome.... [emoji854]. Throw in that mix moving into a new house not a month ago! [emoji42][emoji99][emoji99][emoji99]

In all reality the other three are pretty self-sufficient. We still have a good portion of family time (recently it's playing with the froggy friends in the pool that daddy has to find and take out...). But there is still plenty of light out when kiddos are in bed...

Was just going to update about this... Mother Nature decided to finish filling the remaining 2-3" with a soaker of a downpour... Had me worried that if it kept up I would have to consider draining it, after all that hard work (on my well pump that is)

Skimmer basket should be here tomorrow, test kit on Saturday.

Okay. As long as there's not too much more rain, you're fine! I intentionally let my water level get almost to the top of the skimmer opening right before I "open" because the extra water (anything above mid-skimmer level) drops quickly as it fills the drained lines and empty filter. [I also put my filter to waste to get rid of as much winter anti-freeze as possible, but that procedure is beyond what you need now. Just mentioning it in case others are reading.] Whatever extra water there is can be easily lowered. YOU just don't want it OVER the skimmer. Does that make sense? I am watching the Blackhawks and am not focusing totally on this post... totally....!

Rain is clear through the weekend! Thank you! Not sure if I'll be ready to totally open by the weekend but I can aim for it.
 
You have a sub pump correct? You can use that to lower your water IF it gets to the top of the skimmer. I am with you on that you do not want to to overfill. You MIGHT be real lucky and there is an overflow somewhere.......it will be a small grate looking thing towards the top of the pool on the wall. It is to keep the pool from overfilling.

LOL on the rain after all of your pumps work! Too bad we cannot schedule things like that!

I have three submersible pumps! Actually had to use one yesterday because there was water starting to pool up against the foundation so I used it to pump the water away...

No overflow, trying to catch the froggy friends has put me close to most edges of the pool and I have yet to find one.

I'm getting really curious about the chemistry of the pool. Would I be able to just turn the pump on and set the filter to recirculate to start mixing up the pool so in an get a good test in?

Your pump only needs to run about 30 mins to get a good enough mixing up to get a test read.

Kim (I can just see you leaning over the side of the pool catching the froggy friends with the kids yelling "get him daddy! There is he is! Daddy when are you going to catch our new friend?" LOL)
 
Yay! You are good to go. Hope the testkit comes in tomorrow! Did you get something to act as a skimmer sock? You were thinking nylons.
