New Here - need advice to get rid of pool service!

Ok, I'm an idiot. He added some trichlor pucks in the chlorine feeder - so I guess that's what they meant about adding cyanuric acid. I didn't test CYA last time.

In other news, I went out today and saw air coming out of a return jet. The pump lost prime and it was super hot and steaming!!!
I let it cool off and cleaned out the basket, checked for any obstructions, primed it and started again. After it blew all of the air out it was working great again. Then I'm walking back to the house and notice the basket I forgot to put back in... I'm moving up from idiot to whatever the next level is.
Your learning. If you empty the pump basket fill it back up with water. Sometimes when I clean my cartridge I have to do it a few times to get it to prime and go.

@markayash
Yes. That's what I do to prime it. I might need to look for air leaks. When it's running, I don't see air bubbles at all in the pump. I'm thinking it drops down and gets too much air overnight - so it probably needs a new o-ring for the lid and the drain plug.

And yeah, I'm learning. I probably just saved a lot of money.:D

So I think I figured out the air leak.:geek:
The pool guy comes every week and if he opens the pump basket, he leaves the lid too loose. Air is leaking in and the pump runs the rest of the day, but overnight enough air leaks in that it doesn't prime in the morning. I checked today after he left and it had a lot of air and the lid was loose, so I took care of it. I'm going back to Chicago for a month so I'm having a neighbor check on it to be sure everything is ok while we're gone.
