New filter does not filter green algae

Just installed new hayward 24"
Trying to vaccum green algae from wall and it throw green dust back to pool?

Filled filter with 1 year old sand(replaced it last August, but it doesn't help. Filter filled to 66% approx(wet sand) pressure 11 psi with 60 GPM pump

Algae is a chemistry problem, not a filtering problem. You need to follow the SLAM Process

I doubt you see green dust as Marty said it best. The filter takes the particles out of the water as it passes through the filter, the water color doesn't change because it's passing through a filter.

For example, Water in pool can be clear, but algae start growing on walls. How to remove algae from wall?

Vacuuming does not help, filter just return it back to pool and water become cloudy. Yes, I know how to SLAM it,,but it's long way

The best solution for algae is use more chlorine.
