New construction in Dallas TX

Tons happened the past couple of days..sorry I haven't posted. They finished the light and inspection was Friday..green..YAY!! Also Friday the landscaper came out. They did the plants around the pool (texas heat friendly, request by me!). The landscaper also formed a small retaining wall on the side of the house. Extra project we had, but the cost didn't cover the entire length of the wall, so my husband and son have been working to extend it. I saw the temps looking really warm the next 7 days, so I decided to seed Bermuda around the pool and some raised areas outside the pool area to start the grass. That was today, I'm exhausted, burned from the sun and got a lot on the list for tomorrow. Sprinklers around the fence aren't great, so I am watering by hand until we have time to fix the rest. We are do-it-yourselfers really, but there is a ton on the list to complete the next month..lol. I didn't get pics today, I will try for tomorrow...

Best news?! Plaster on Tuesday! Question for anyone interested in chiming in..how long after plaster can we swim? They are going to do the acid treatment, so I will be brushing (and watering the seed!) like crazy the end of next week. I am REALLY paranoid about lumpy feeling plaster..any hints?

Guess that's it for now, will really try to get pics tomorrow!

That is great news!!!! I can't wait to see it!!! Your PB will probably tell you how soon you can swim, but here is what I remember..

We had 3 hoses running and it took from about 17 hours to fill (from Friday afternoon at 1:30 until Saturday morning at 7:00.) Saturday, they dumped 2 bottles of acid in the pool and said to wait 8 hours. I know we went in on Saturday nite, because it was our anniversary. We brushed the pool 2 times a day for the first week. I think that brushing helps smooth out the plaster.. Your pool is bigger than ours so it will take longer to fill. My guess is that by Wednesday nite you'll be :snorkle: :snorkle: :snorkle: :swim:

There were about 7 or 8 men putting on the plaster. Then there was one guy that stayed behind and smoothed everything out. He washed the whole pool down with acid before it was filled. I sat outside and watched (with amazement) the entire process. At night, with the lights on you'll see everything! I am pretty amazed just how smooth it looks. I'm sure it's not perfect, but it's dang close! It reminds me of smooth cake icing.

Are you putting diamond brite plaster? I can't remember.

Ouch on the sunburn!! I can't wait to see the pics!! Your kids are going to be grinning from ear to ear on Wednesday!! I'm so glad it's going to be nice this week. Our water was 78 degrees yesterday... A tad chilly at first, but you've waited a long time for this pool!!!

Im jealous of your landscaping! I still haven't done ours. Waiting on the big auction in October at the landscapers. I'd like to get some help to do that.. It depends how much I end up spending. Lol! I'm going to have to work like a madman to fill the coffers back up! Our bid didn't include any of that, or putting the extended fence back up. They cleaned up their mess, and that was that. Never saw the PB again. Lol! His crew came every day or so to check things or make adjustments when it was time.

Keep testing your water.. Find out what your plaster requires as far as numbers, and stick to those as close as you can. Youll do GREAT!!!

Lol..Glock! Just for you..The last pool pics without plaster..includes the landscape.

imrodee - our plaster is the pebble tec type, dark blue color. We didn't include the fence/landscape in the pool bid, just found outside jobs at reasonable prices :) The landscape is Texas friendly. Too much sun for me to entertain the palms and such. At the very back of the pic, on the other side of the fence, I am gonna plant some fast growing tree of some sort. Maybe Lacebark Elm, maybe Globe Willow, Chinese Pistachio or Arizona Ash...hmmm. I want some shade there before I retire. It's gonna be about 20-30ft from the back of the pool, so I don't think I have to worry much about droppings.

Also started grass seed, some Bermuda blend. Hoping its warm enough the next month to get it started before the cold sets in.

Oh and on the far sides of the pool on the other side of the fence, we added berms. These have Purple leaf plumb tree in the center, flanked by Lavender Crepe Myrtle. Purple is my fav :)

Pool is coming!!

Oh boy, tomorrow is gonna be so awesome! I think only the weeping wall will be close to the excitement over the whole thing. I was shocked when I saw how awesome that wall was...

The weeping wall turned out especially nice! I like your landscaping choices too. It looks sooo pretty arvven!

HOT 90 degrees ALL WEEK!!!!!! Looking forward to water for you today! Take pics!

I am guessing I don't brush until the acid is added? The spa was filled when I got home, and now I am wondering...

I'm sure they will be back in the morning to brush for you.. and probably add an acid wash. You can do it tomorrow nite when you get home. We had to wait 8 hours after the acid wash.. You might check with Karmann, or somebody else might chime in!
