New Build - Spring TX

It is not a commercial swimjet product.
Something my PB and I came up with.
I guess you would describe them as Spa jets on steroids.
The jets are adjustable directionally with an output diameter of about an inch.
They draw air into the stream via a siphon (no blower)
All three siphons are plumbed together and come up in a nearby planting bed as a 1-1/2" p-trap.

Having 3 jets means the flow is wider than the single jet solutions. (This is a common complaint about them)

I may need to ping you on the details. we were wanting to do the swim jets but balked when we saw the price tag and had settled on just doing one of those bungee type devices around the waist and/or ankles. if this can be done for around 3k in the manner you describe that would certainly be worth investigating.

Googling Whisperflo 3hp pumps comes up with them costing ~$750 each retail. So $2250 for a set.
The jet fixtures would run about $50 ea. So $150 for a set.
A pair of pool drains for each of them about $50 ea. So $300 for a set.
Add to that the 2-1/2" plumbing stub out prior to gunite and completion of plumbing afterwards.
You need 3 spare circuits to run this all. Could mean a bigger automation panel.

I am very happy with it.
Very happy.
Is it an Endless Pool, no.
Can a strong swimmer sprint to the wall, absolutely.
Is that what it is designed to prevent, no.
It is designed for long swims at a steady pace and works very well for this.
It takes some getting used to.
It has a broader stream than a Badu Jet system.
That said you still have to stay in the stream which is not a big deal.
Initially I used drop a quarter on the floor of the pool in mid stream and then keep my eye on it as I swam to keep in mid flow.
As I have got more adept I have stopped doing this.

Secondary is the fun the kids have with it.
-They have come up with so many other ways to use the jets.
-They jump into the pool with a boogie board and scoot across the pool.
-They make a hand to ankle chain of bodies with the first one holding the coping over the jets.
-They wrestle each other trying to force the other into the stream and drive them off into the pool. (It is impossible to stand in front of them and not be driven away)
-They tie a rope to a canoe and the side of the pool then paddle against the flow.

They are in a sort of triangle with the center one lower than the ones either side.
My upper pair are 22" apart and 9" deep (from water level, mid tile).
Middle one is 16" deep.

Another design item you need to consider (or not).
When you start the jets and just let them run for a while.
The stream will begin to cause the pool so swirl one way or the other slightly.
The resulting swirl pushed the stream exacerbating the effect.

It is not much but can mean your swimming sweet spot is 6" left or right of if you jump straight in after starting them.

I say this because some people will set a tile in the floor of the pool, perpendicular to the middle jet to help a noob align themselves when they first start using them.
A quarter on the floor is much better.

Wow awesome pool! How do you get the siphon to work the swim jets and spa without a blower? Is there an electric check valve to prevent water from going out the p trap? Thanks.

Spa has a blower.
The Swim jets draw air due to the power of the water jets.
The trap is actially inverted to stop junk falling into siphon.
It is not the type that holds a water seal for gasses like a toilet.

My swim jets are on the edge closest to the equipment pad; about 25 ft of 2-1/2" pipe.
That said, it has 3 runs, one for each 3hp pump.
Some systems (Badu) use a single 10hp pump thru 4" pipe. On longer that 30 ft runs they use 6" pipe.

So if your runs are real long, bump up to 4" on each 3hp and you will be fine.

yeah, I could be looking at runs around 80 ft or so if I'm able to locate the pad next to the HVAC pad on the back side of the garage.

I'm not so talented that I can take a selfie while I am swimming.
I'll see if I can motivate my son to shoot it.
He is more likely to shoot me with a nerf cannon while I'm swimming rather than a camera.
I'm sure he does it out of a deep seated love of his daddy.
