Salty, no umbrella as the 2 story house, 75' oaks, and the screen provide a lot of shade and even when we have sun, the screen blocks a good bit of the UV (it's the 20/20 mesh) but if we decide we do want one, I will keep that one you mentioned in mind. I really like hearing real people's experiences with products. I haven't checked out the Miami line yet. It is a bit over whelming with all the products they have. I just know we want grey (light or dark doesnt matter but no browns) furniture with the deep seats, navy cushions, and arms on the chairs. I also love the middle piece you can add between the seats that gives a hard arm rest with 2 cup holders (I highly value cup holders and won't even buy a vehicle if it has bad or not enough cup holders lol).
The deck crew was here the other day. I was nursing a migraine so didn't go investiagte what they did. Then the next day we went down to Orlando to Universal and didn't get home until 3am and then yesterday I was recovering from the trip to Universal lol. So I went out this morning and see they replaced the scratched pavers. There is one near the house door with a saw mark in it (which is new.. Cut a new piece and damage an old one) but I am happy to see the scratched pieces gone. They already leveled everything so the deck is looking much better. They also installed the under stair tread lights but one tread is not set into mortar and as I was stepping down, I almost fell bc it rocked. I also need to see how the light looks while on bc I think one of them needs to be moved further out so the ledger stone on the riser doesn't cast a shadow. I still see those uneven pieces on the spa coping (where the wedge pieces are opposite with wide edge inside the spa and skinny edge on outside edge) but it is minor and scared they mess it up more trying to fix it.
They did come out and fix the paver under the cage supports and put the paver under the stone. I looked and saw a spider with an egg sack and lots of dead bugs in this open space. Then realized there is a 2 inch by 5 inch open space between the step and the frame to the cage (just so happens to be where a door is so they couldnt fill it in with another piece of frame). Wondering what to put there? It is large enough for frogs, toads, snakes, mice, rats, and clearly bugs.
The coping on the columns still needs to be fixed. When the original coping guy cut the pieces, they fit tight on the joints. A second crew was sent to finish the work and when they mortared in the pieces, they have gaps in the joints and one column has almost a 1/4 inch gap between 2 pieces. But man I am so glad I made a stink about the stone not being on top of the pavers bc now that it is, it looks a thousand times better!
So really what is left is fix the coping on columns, sand the deck joints again, figure out how to block the gap in the cage, discuss the light fiasco with the shadow over the deep end, they need to finish clean up (left a pile of paver base which I dont mind bc can use that in high traffic areas by barn) but under that are large pieces of concrete from excess in pipe when pouring footer, clean up crew for all the dust and debris all over the house, patio fan, windows, deck, and cage, install expansion parts for automation so we can control everything like we want, plaster crew to acid wash iron stain and water ring stain, and need to ask about the jets that were placed in spa. Hubby said he ordered 3 jets to be the therapeutic kind that spin and 3 regulars. To me, looking at them, they all look the same. I dont know if they did all 6 therapeutic or forgot and did 6 regular.
They did take the covers off the bubblers and put the clear cover over them. Hubby had the lights on last night and those bubblers are very bright. I didnt see them running yet.
We have gotten a ton of rain, last night especially. The water is to the bottom of the coping so will be pumping out water today.
We are so close. Just details and the big light issue to straighten out. And buy furniture! Lol Also need stone and coping ordered for our fire pit. There was supposed to be excess left over but ended up not working out that way. PB had said he would order it for us at cost so need to take care of that too. Oh and we have to figure out what we are doing with the fire bowls. Hubby is worried the stain we ordered is going to be too brown-grey. Have to test the bowl we made and see before staining the larger ones we bought.
For the fire bowls, I was thinking of mixing the fire glass colors with a rich blue, like royal, and then a caribbean blue. Thoughts? Just to pull a splash of color up away from the pool.
The water color is just better every day. I was so worried it was going to be a little too dark but man, it is perfect. This has been such an incredibly stressful process just because of all the mistakes and issues, but it will be worth it. I am just waiting for everything to be made right and really want to hear their suggestion to fixing the light screw up.
I will say we would not have gotten through this process without every one who has chimed in and offered advice, input, support, and shared in the process with us. Truly is a great community.
