Here is what you have, which is $1,400:

Here is their latest Intellicenter, which is $1,900. Note this link also has a remote control in the bundle, which isn't really needed but you can shave off a couple hundred $ and be much closer to the $1,400 price for some something not as dated.

Its not the end of the world, but if not installed I would tell your builder to swap it with the newer technology with more functionality, over the air updates, color touch screen, etc.

Also, just like any technology, Pentair will stop supporting the older technology in favor of their new product. IMO, its just not worth skimping out for a few hundred $ at most.

This is awesome and helps alot, thanks for steering me in the right direction. Also I noticed that there is a PSL4

Calling @Jimrahbe as I have seen him posting quite a bit on Pentair automation including the Lite version.

I want to make sure I’m giving you accurate info.

WW,

You showed this equipment..

Pentair EC-520540 Easytouch 8 Pool/Spa Control

Pentair 522353 PL4 EasyTouch Control System with ScreenLogic Bundle

That does not make sense as that would be TWO automation systems.

So do you actually have both of these???

The EC-520540 is a Pool and Spa unit ET-8 with no salt system
The 522353 is a Pool only lite system with no salt system.

I can't think of any reason you would need both and for sure you do not want the lite system.

You want an EasyTouch-8 with an internal SWCG power center and an IC40

or

You want an IntelliCenter 8 with an internal SWCG power center and IC40.

Find out for sure exactly what you have... Tell the pool builder to not install any of the automation until you get this all ironed out.

I suspect the meant to order an IntelliChlor (SWCG) and Power center and ordered the lite ET by mistake. But that is just a guess..

Thanks,

Jim R.

I have both boxes in my patio. Do you have the part number for the intellicenter model you referenced? Here is a pic of both units that were delivered. Don't worry I was foot model once. 😉20230606_211435.jpg

WW,

I suspect a mistake, but only your pool builder knows for sure.

I suggest you tell him you want the new IntelliCenter with the built-in SWCG power center and cell.

As a fall back position tell him you want the EasyTouch 8 with the built-in SWCG power center and cell.

It is just dumb as a box of rocks to add an external power center to a brand new EasyTouch. It costs more and look like crud.

Tell us what he says,

Thanks,

Jim R.

Really appreciate the assist in this one, reminded the pool builder about my attention to detail. Explained the automation system(s) dont make sense and are outdated and for the project I hired him for. I expect much better than legacy equipment, that I was overcharged for multiple point products as opposed to a bundle without the remotes. I'll keep you all posted.

@kimkats , was curious about startup you sent me some test kits which i am going to look over. What about brushes, extension poles, etc. I am working on a list of this I need. I also asked the PB that I want the dolphin robot. Is there a recommendation that you all would prefer?

Ask your pool builder what he is going to give you. My guess is he will give you are brush and pole. He might give you a net.

Poles-I never found a pole that remains expandable after a few weeks. As such I had one I kept "short" for when I was in the pool using it and one kept long for when I was on the deck using it.

Nets-you will want a "flat" net for skimming the top of the pool. You will want a "deep" net for getting things off the bottom of the pool. You will want to keep them in the shade as the sun will eat up the netting fast.

Looking good and I really like the toe tiles on those benches. That lessens the chance of someone hitting them when jumping off of your wall.

Speaking of the wall, that is an interesting design. What type of material will be used to finish it out?

Swapped out the old and in with the new. PB said it was an error and that the "Pentair EC-520540 Easytouch 8 Pool/Spa Control" was the automation system that should have went in. I asked him to scratch and go with the i8psic40, which cost me another 1k.

Wanted to know if this was accurate in the price difference.

Here are some additional pics, the base has been set for the turf project and the pergola is started to come together. IMG-20230618-WA0015.jpgIMG-20230618-WA0014.jpgIMG-20230618-WA0010.jpgIMG-20230618-WA0007.jpgIMG-20230618-WA0009.jpg

Nice, looking good and glad you got the Intellicenter.

Your neighborhood is a spitting image of mine, I'm guessing we have the same builders and possibly the same developer.
