Liquid chlorine. You can buy it at a local pool store (don't buy anything else there except pool toys LOL). Wal mart, Lowes, Home Depot also sell. Just make sure to check the date code on the bottle as you don't want it to be older than 3 months as it does degrade over time especially in the heheat.

I used the chlorine tabs as I have both a salt cell and a chlorine feeder. Since I am still within the first 30 days and from reading some of NPT guidance on new plaster, I can not use salt, I am using chlorine tabs for now until the salt is ready to go in.

What salt is recommended for these pools and is there a link you can point me to?

I am going to order the tf100 kit, I have the pool math app installed. Anything else I might be missing?

The tablets are okay for now BUT I will also tell you they don't give much FC compared to liquid chlorine. They also add stuff such as CYA (stabilizer or balancer) to the water. After using them for a while the CYA will add up to the point you will have to drain and replace some water as that is the only way to remove too much CYA.

I am glad you are getting one of the good test kits. Until you get it you can use the test kit you have to check the pH and TA as those are easy to test and very important for the curing of your plaster.

Chlorinating liquid, liquid shock or some combo of those terms. It's widely available at any pool aisle and also the pool stores.

Walmart has been the best price this season for many at $5.67 a gallon for 10%. Some other retailers such as the pool store or the hardware store may have 12.5%.
PoolMath has a bleach price calculator in the upper left menu to compare what you can Google up locally for the best deal.

Check the date code on the bottle/box. It will say 23XXX (and probably a bunch of other #s). The 23 is 2023 and the XXX is the day of the year. Do simple math at 30 days per month. We've had 6 full months so far (180 days) and a half month (15 days), so if it was produced today it would say something like 23(195)XXXXX. Parenthesis added so you could see the differentiation. Keep the math simple and don't split hairs over 4 days. Lol.

You want as fresh as possible, no more than 3 months old. Dig through the shelf because the new stock may be pushed in the back.

Lots of choices in our area: Lowes, Home Depot, heck even Kroger has a small pool section with some liquid chlorine. However the best places I have found are Walmart (Pool Essentials - white jug by the pool stuff in outdoors) or Pinch-a-penny (they have 2.5 gallon refillable jugs).

Thanks guys, the pool company came out and dumped 400lbs of salt. So I guess I am good. But I wanted to use the advice of this chat to make sure I am being fed the info.

They dumped 400lbs of salt and I am on my 4th day in on using my chlorinator that has 3 tricolor disc's in it. I added CYA around 3lbs for 16k gallon pool to get started and my TF100 is on order.

Wanted to see if there is any feedback on where I am at.

Make sure your SWCG is off while the salt is dissolving (~24 hours) to avoid potential damage to your SWCG. After that see what the salt reading is, make any necessary salt adjustments and turn it on.

Is it as simple as powering it off? It hasn't been off since they dumped it.

Just put your output at 0% so it will not try to make chlorine. That is good practice when you add salt to make sure the SWCG does not try to make chlorine at the same time a heavy concentration of salt passes through the SWCG.
