Generally it's ok but I'd be lying if I said I hadn't seen some issues with downpours during gunite - anything is fixable - and it's not your dime. But rather than bore you with those, how about telling us how the shell looks? Were there any downpours during it? Any erosion?

They are still out there (see my sig line for pics). It has been raining steadily but not really a downpour.

Oh yeah, that link is there for photos! The two issues I've seen are erosion of top layers in trenches which occurred in downpours immediately after the shoot. The other one was an area down low that blew out from water that must have gone down behind the shell and forced its way through. So far I don't see any of those issues being likely. I also saw that the radar this morning did you a favor. There was a pretty heavy batch that stayed north of you for almost all of the morning. And it's done for now it looks like.

I'd be breathing a sigh of relief/relaxation about now. How do depths look on steps, shelf, etc.? Dont' be afraid to take a tape measure out and ask questions if you aren't sure.

They are done and so is the rain. It looks really good but a little sloppy on the skimmers, lights and stub plumbing. If it was me I would have cleared out all the excess, cleared away concrete from the light boxes and definitely wiped down the plumbing. I guess the plumber will be responsible for cleaning off the concrete from the pipes. They also left the plastic on the sundeck not sure why. I think because they didn't want to take it with them.

Now to water it 2x a day. I think I can skip today though!

Well look at that! It looks like a real pool!! SWEET!

Well guess what time it is.....................time for YOUR set of links!

Make sure to ask any and all questions you might have no matter how small! We have all been where you are at one point.

Now is also the time to ask your PB what test kit he will be providing. Let us know so we can fill in any holes.

Thanks I have been reading and need to get my test kit. I am watering 2-3x a day. I was actually in the pool last night walking around. I measured the depth and it looks like they hit the 9 feet too! While in the deep end I could feel the heat radiating off the walls. But I almost get the idea that watering the shell is like a snipe hunt. :D Not sure it is doing anything.

There is a strange green water (a couple of gallons - just a puddle) in the deep end. I assume some sort of run-off from the concrete. The color was odd though I don't think it is algae. It appeared right away.

Also they put 4 of those pressure relief holes in the bottom - is that standard?

dont worry it's just concrete chemical juice. Lol. Don't drink it though. I had it for a couple weeks and then the water went clear or dirty clear.

Pressure plugs. Totally normal. They get little flat caps when they plaster. They r for just in case.

Glad u are all done. Glad the rain didn't downpour on you. It rained for a good part of my shoot too. But it was a misty type.

Now get get out there and water! Lol

Well poop. I was supposed to get coping, tile and my sheer descent installed today but it was cancelled due to rain. This is the first and hopefully last delay.

Hey is it normal for all the skimmer and lines to be totally full of water? They are full right up to the skimmer opening in the pool. I am concerned that stagnant water will form and that stink is hard to get rid of. Should I pour some bleach in the skimmers? Is there any way to clear this out? I think the PB should have sealed these up as I can see some concrete around the openings too I suspect some has gone down the skimmer.

I would find a way to blow the water out or suck it out depending on what machines you have on hand. THEN I would put chlorine in and let it sit for a while the flush that out. Be ready to find a way to "seal" it all up so this does not happen again.

Thanks Kim! Since these terminate at the pump with a screw fitting, and the pump is being replaced anyway, I will go out and unscrew the connection and maybe use my shop vac to empty the lines. With any luck it will just drain out I think the pump end is lower than the skimmer.

I just tried vacuuming out the skimmers from the pump side. I was unable to get any water to flow. I tried the shop vac in both directions, sucking and blowing, neither did anything. I am thinking that the plumber put a block in the lines that is still there. If that is the case then the water I see should be just in the skimmer opening. I'll try to stick something down that later but no direction on the valves did anything at all.

Electric guy just showed up and he was very annoyed since most of the equipment he needs is missing. He called my PB and it sounded like he was totally used to having this conversation with them. PB called back 5 minutes later and is sending a guy out to deliver the missing stuff which is mainly the entire Jandy control system. This annoys me a lot too since I have been regularly requesting updates on the extra equipment that we upgraded to almost a month ago. The weakest part about my PB is equipment.

Tile and coping being installed today see my pics!
