Consider using a channel drain that can be cleaned out easier then the deco drain. See the various threads about it...

Very nice layout. There are lots of participants from Austin on the forum so should be good info for local ideas and issues.

That is so crazy to see how little they actually dug and the walls being formed with plywood and the Baja step being formed with sandbags.

excavation costs were very low. We joked around about it being an above-ground in-ground pool.

The goal of the design was to bring the deck level exactly to the height of the main floor of the house.

looks awesome. My pool ended up being mostly above ground. I wish I had known about the sand bags for height. I would def have considered raising my pool another 3-4 feet out of the ground to be closer to the height of the existing deck.

Moving right along! What are the plans for the steel? This is going to be the MOST important part of your build. We had one build where they did not do extra steel from the walls to the floor and the longest wall started leaning out once it was filled with water This cause a crack for form all along the wall. They had to almost totally redo the pool.

12-26-2020: Rebar in (One day job!!)

We went with a double wall all the way around.

I can see the two layers on the wall. One question I have is where does the one layer end? It looks like it goes straight down into the ground while the other layer curves to the floor.

Looks like the outer rebar is mid-foundation so straight down. The inner rebar is a 90 bend to the middle of the pool floor.

I like how they took them from the floor and up and over the walls. It should be solid.

It looks great. Davis steel has been very busy, I was trying to get a bid from them around the time they were doing your pool. Wish I was able to get them to do mine.
