Rain is not a huge factor unless it is a complete downpour for several hours. It will aerate the water which can raise PH other than that no worries.
It is supposed to rain pretty consistently for a couple of days. Raising ph isn't the end of the world though.

So figure shock, calculate, and bomb it you say? Should I test chlorine after the sun goes down, then check again in morning for loss test? Wife is more impatient than I am at this point. She is ready to get in!

No point worrying about the overnight loss test until the water is sparkling and the CC is .5 or below. I think it would be safe to sleep in until it's light enough to see. You just don't want any direct sunlight on the water.
Since CYA is closer to 40 than 50, should I do 16, or 20 shock level? Should I go between?
