Why would anyone ever use tabs that contain copper? How is it still on the market? The pool builder provided this stuff when his pool was finishedCopper. Typically Copper sulfate.

Here are the TF-100 resultsMy son had a pool built a few months ago and he is using the ātake a sample to Lesliesā maintenance program lol.
He asked me to take a look at the results and I was very surprised his TA reading is zero. Of course they sold him āalkalinity upā, aka baking soda at an inflated price. He also bought something to reduce phosphates lol.
Heās returning all of it and Iām going to test his water later today. If my tf100 yields similar TA and PH readings, Iāll come back with questions.![]()
Phoenix suburb, Queen CreekThey contain copper that has been accumulating in the pool water.
He needs a major drain of most of his pool water to clear the copper and the CYA and start fresh.
Where is your son located?
40Try to dilute as much as possible and then see what the readings are.
Maybe add baking soda to increase the TA to about 80 to help raise the pH some.
What is the fill water TA?
Well, They were right about 1 thing ⦠most of that water has gotta go..Here are the TF-100 results
FC 16
CC 1.0
TA 40
PH 6.8 (lowest reading on scale)
CYA 180-200 (diluted and doubled)
CH 325
Certainly not by listening to dad. Sons learn from their own mistakes, not from dad's horror storiesWhen will these kids ever learn?
Even a stopped watch is right twice a day. That's better odds that a pool store, but still would have not made that decision based on their results. In the end, that CYA number is just unmanageable and the pool needs a re-start. If that copper number is right, the pool could also benefit from starting over on that as well.Well, They were right about 1 thing ⦠most of that water has gotta go..

Clorox seems to always feel the need to find a way to increase their marketing gimmicks.
Thatās why they always feel the need to keep āimprovingā their products to make them stand out from all the rest.
Thatās why they add copper and a bunch of other stupid stuff to their tabs.
Thatās why they have 112 different scents for their bleach and they add things to make the bleach āsplashlessā and other such nonsense.
Do I really need peach mango pumpkin scented bleach?
Should Clorox encourage people to keep smelling their bleach until they begin to hallucinate?
U joke.. but there really is scented hair bleach, mine smells like blueberriesI just sent Clorox a letter last week asking them if they would make strawberry scented trichlor tabs.
The tabs are being tested by the focus group and it looks good so far.
Just when I thought a generation of kids couldnāt get any slower than ODāing by eating tide pods, Clorox will have a new āeven smarterā generation drinking straight bleach!Pumpkin Spiced Latte scented bleach ⦠itās coming, give Clorox time ā¦.
