My pump was running but there was no water movement before the cold weather started for 15 days. My pool maintenance guy didn't come. in December.
yesterday morning pool was covered with snow but not completely frozen but today it is completely frozen. Tomorrow temperatures are expected to be in 45s. How much damage would have been done to pool and pipes. What kind of cost am I looking at?

Well damage is hard to predict until the ice thaws. Are your skimmers frozen solid? If it is just a layer of ice, maybe the pump is still sucking water and circulating under the ice.
Is the pump running or not? Do you have filter pressure? Not sure what you mean "there was no water movement before the cold weather". This implies your filter is clogged and thus no circulation.
Did you drain your pump or is it frozen as well? Filter - is that frozen? If the plumbing system is frozen then that could be $$$$ but really no way to know at this time.

C,

There is no way to tell until after everything warms up...

Could be nothing, and could also go the other way.

If the plumbing at the pad froze, then that could be very bad. If it is just the water at the top of the pool, then most likely nothing will be damaged.

Good luck,

Ice on the surface of your pool is not much of a concern, but you need to look at your equipment and see if water is flowing through your pump(s) and pipes. The equipment and pipes is where the damage will occur not surface ice.

There is no power to iaqualink antenna and the pool pump is not running and the antifreeze did not start. The pump was running two days ago before the winter storm. It completely froze not surface freeze. I think temperatures are warming up tomorrow to 45 degrees but dropping again for two days. If I can get the power back to the antenna tomorrow be I will be able to run the pump. But not sure if that is a good idea. I had to replace the pump with a 2021 storm, called Pentair but they are saying, its an automation issue and they are not responsible. I also called Aqualink and they also will not cover labor-only parts. I think none of them will cover pipes if they have an issue.

C,

You should be able to run your pump in the Service mode, using the pump's control panel.. You should not need the automation to force the pump to run.. If you can get the pump to run, then I'd forget any automated freeze control and just set the pump to run 24/7, 1200 or 1500 RPM..

I have a simple pool and do not use freeze control as my pump runs 24/7, mostly at 1200 RPM.. Cost to run that way is less than $20 bucks a month and I personally believe that is less wear and tear on the pump than turning it on and off each day.

Also.. Keep in mind that before you can run the pump, everything at the equipment pad, needs to thaw.. If things froze, then your filter could be just one big block of ice.. :(

Thanks,

Jim R.

It is tremendously unlikely your entire pool froze. Likely it is only the surface, a few inches deep at the worst. Turn on your pump asap and check for water flow.
