My CYA experiment

I had cleaned my pool and did a fresh fill several months back and left my CYA around 50ish ( pool is mostly in the shade ) and noticed my SWG was running more than before struggling to keep my FC around 5.

Last week I added more stabilizer and brought it up close top 80 and now my FC is at 9.5 with no other changes :)

I never doubted the recommended levels just cool to see it firsthand

I put my CYA in a skimmer filter sock and let it soak in the skimmer for maybe an hour. After that I can massage it in front of a return and its dissolves in a matter of minutes. I tried leaving it in front of a return and it just seems to bounce around.

I use hairnets in my skimmers and pour a little in and let it dissolve.
That sounds like a good idea, as long as it dissolves before I have to empty the basket. I always have the debris socks in my skimmer baskets. I’ve really struggled with getting the granules to dissolve and have been resorting to putting them in a bucket of hot water and stirring for several minutes at a time over several hours. Even with that, I end up with a fair amount that won’t dissolve.

Interesting, I put 4 pounds in 2 skinners but over a 2 or 3 day period so maybe that helps.
I also run my pump 24/7 but what I put in seems to have fully dissolved in 4 to 6 hours.
