I read several old threads on Mustard algae. One of the comments on a post said first you complete the normal SLAM, then you raise to Mustard Algae SLAM levels for 24 hours. Then after that, you let the FC levels fall to mustard algae minimum for several weeks.

Is that correct? For me, my CYA is 50 so I'll fall back to an FC of 7.5. Is that safe for me and my kids to swim in?

The new guy is still learning.

The wiki entry on mustard algae doesn't say to lower the FC after the SLAM. It says after the SLAM bring the FC up to the mustard algae FC level (the level is linked on that page.

EDIT: I mis-read what you posted. But I would follow the wiki entry. 7.5ppm FC is not too high for kids to swim in. As long as the FC is below the SLAM level you can swim in the pool.
