Blue bag is right. It should be labeled “solar salt”. It’s made from evaporated seawater so >99% pure.Plain. Most areas it is a blue bag.
I've now used 2 brands of pool salt and the bags ranged from sand to pea sized chunks. The Diamond crystals water softener salt I got a couple of times was pea sized to sugar cube sized. For those who've gotten good actual "pool salt", what consistency is it supposed to be? Is it fine like table salt?
All of that I’ve used is very white colored small pea sized chunks. The water softener salt I’ve used was larger peanut sized pellets.I agree that those pictures don't look like the right consistency or color for anything. We have had reports here of similar; I would definitely contact Morton. Does it taste salty?
I use the Diamond Crystals "Solar Naturals Water Softener Salt Crystals" (same brand as what Newdude posted but different product), which is available at both Home Depot and my local Ace around here (actually cheaper at Ace, and they load it in the trunk). I don't have a picture unfortunately, but it comes out as small discrete chunks that have always appeared fully white and pure to me. Brushing for 5 minutes dissolves it quite nicely, and because the chunks are a bit bigger at first you can see when they're still there.
For those who've gotten good actual "pool salt", what consistency is it supposed to be? Is it fine like table salt? I wonder if that further grinding process has more opportunity to introduce contaminants or get crossed on a line with other products.
