They applied mastic around 2-3 weeks ago. I was told it is named “deckoseal.” After wiping out the sand last week … this is the end result. Stains all over the decking and coping. I’m pretty devastated to say the least. I brought it up to my pb and he has no idea what happened and hasn’t provided a solution. Honestly, I can’t think of a solution to this. I don’t even know how this happened. Did they spill ? Is it absorption ?Any advice?

Truthfully, that DeckoSeal looks among the better applied I've seen. It's nice and smooth and even width. We've seen so many that look like a child's first time with Elmer's glue.

That darkening is something we've also seen as moisture trapped in the joint. The sealant alters the rate of evaporation of moisture the control joints because it is wateroof. There is no "product" for them to have gotten anywhere that would appear that way in the kit.

The sand is optional and is applied for texture and aesthetic so it appears more like concrete while being able to handle the shift of the monolithic pool shell. Regular grout would shatter.

I'd give it time; being mindful that high humidity or periodic rain will prolong the moisture but eventually it should fade.

Thanks for your response. You seem very knowledgeable regarding pools. I would also like to add that the day after they applied the deckoseal, it rained a whole lot for several days. So maybe the rain has a lot to do with it. I’m hoping it’s only moisture and not oils that are trapped. Thanks again.
