manual vacuuming question

Guys

Is this ok to remove a skimmer basket when vacuuming a pool manually?

The reason i am asking this is because we don`t have standard vac plate here so what are your thoughts?

Thanks
I remove the skimmer basket and plug the vaccum directly into the skimmer port. Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks

You know some people say that vacuuming without a skimmer will cause the pump impeller to clog due to not using the skimmer basket to catch the debris and pump will overheat.

Is that true?
I don’t vacuum manually very often and wouldn’t use it to get large debris out so there may be some truth to that. I would use a robot or brush+net to get anything large out first before vacuuming.

Your pump should have its own basket though so I wouldn’t worry about the pump impeller. I’d be more worried (if I was worried at all) about getting debris stuck in the pipe leading to the pump.

Here the diameter of the vac hose is about 4 centimeters(1.57 inches) while the diameter of the pipe leading to the pump is 6 centimeters(2.36 inches).so i don't think this is going to be a problem
