Does Muriatic acid lose potency over time? There is a jug in the garage that has been there at least 3 years, just wondering if I should use it, or whether I should get some fresh when I fill my chlorine jugs.????
But it’s not a good idea to keep MA in a garage if you value anything metallic you keep in there. MA vapors can easily escape from the bottlesbecause they are not designed to be vapor tight. So acid vapors can escape over time and easily corrode anything nearby.
The acid will still be good. The jug..... treat it like sweating dynamite until proven otherwise. I found about a quart in the bottom of a jug once. The jug was so brittle I tore the handle off when I lifted it. Fortunately, no acid leaked. But be forewarned.
