I wish there was a quick easy way to pre-dissolve dry CYA. Putting the dry into the skimmer of a pool with a DE filter works, but CYA can clogged a paper filter.

Basically you are paying more for it to be dissolved.

This is why we always recommend adding granular CYA by the sock method, never pour it directly into the skimmer. While it can work with a DE or sand filter without clogging the filter, you can't see it and it is possible to backwash out undissolved CYA.

Pour the measured amount of CYA necessary to get to your target into a sock (like from your foot, no holes in the toes please). Either suspend the sock in front of a return or if it will not totally block the flow through the skimmer the sock can be placed there.

Eevery 20 minutes or so give the sock a squeeze or two. I have dissolved an almost full sock in less than 2 hours.

Yes. I recommend saving your money and using dry.
