LED Light Strips

I am interested in affixing LED strip lighting to my coping around the pool. I had fiber optic lights there once but no adhesive silicone or even 3M emblem tape could keep it in place once chlorinated water made contact with it. I am wondering if anyone has done or seen this. I'm afraid that even with next to no weight, compared to fiber optic cable in a plastic track, the chlorine will again keep it from staying attached.

Just a little more detail. I would make sure you got LED strips that are at least IP67 rated. I think the ones you listed are only IP65. IP68 is ideal but seems hard to find. Depending on how long the run is you might want to go 24V instead of 12V. My runs were about 50’ for each side. I ran underground speaker wire to the strips and wired it under the coping and under the deck to the outdoor kitchen. I put the power supplies and controllers there. Hooked up the controllers to the Wifi and now can control them via my phone or Alexa. I can change colors, dim, turn on and off all automated.

I did the whole thing over a year ago and it still works and looks great.

Do you have any pictures of transformers and wiring to pool? This has been on my list for a while now, and it looks fantastic in that pic. I personally use those strips and DMX decoders in my house, so I am very familiar with the systems, but can’t figure out how to get the wire to the pool.

I will try to take some pictures for you tomorrow. Honestly the hardest part is getting it drilled through the tile and pushed under the coping. After that our travertine is sand set so I could just pop them up. Then I just dug a trench in the grass about 8” deep to get the it to the outdoor kitchen. I could have probably wired both sets to one transformer but I liked the redundancy so I just did two. It runs a little cooler that way too.

The LED strips were bought off eBay from China. I don’t remember if the transformers came from eBay or Amazon. I will try to look that up. The LED’s are the 5050 and very bright. In retrospect I would have liked a set that RGB and White as opposed to making white from the combination of RGB. Also I just use blue 90% of the time anyway.
