Leak somewhere

I put my pool up, started filling and noticed water under the pool on the tarp. It’s only about 3” filled, so it seems as though it would be on the bottom of the liner near where it is wet. I got in and looked and do not see any holes, but there HAS to be one!! What is the secret to finding this hole? Thanks.
Oh yeah and I bought an Intex over the wall skimmer for my pool (Intex) and it does not ft 😡 The hose that attaches to the skimmer is larger than the outlet hole. Guess I will go without the skimmer…..This may be the last summer for pool.

This is inexpensive to use as dye and pool safe. Squirt some on the water and see where it flows out.

It appeared to have stopped leaking, so i put in a bit more water. That leaked out, so there is definitely a leak. However, there’s about 3” of water in the pool and it is above the outside seam line. If the leak was on the bottom, would not all of the water have gone out? I laid awake all night thinking about this 😬

It leaks until it doesn't - meaning the water will drop until it gets just below the level of the leak. If on a side, to that point. If on the bottom, it will all leak out. So look closely at that water line where it stopped. You can fill the pool somewhat higher, and then move around the pool putting it in a spot, and see if you can watch it being sucked into the liner. If nothing, move a bit further down, spot testing as you go.
 
Tried the Mrs Stewart’s, inspecting at waterline, pushing on bottom (especially near little wrinkles) to look for air bubbles or dirt, nothing has worked so far. Has anyone tried the pool dye with any luck? There’s only 3-4” of water in the pool. I don’t want to just keep filling it up as it leaks out. It should not be this difficult.
 
Water is sneaky as it moves - it can travel a long way from where the leak is, and be hard to spot. You could try blotting with dry paper towels around the outside- but it may be going out of the liner, yet traveling down between it and the outside wall.

I did the same with my inground. A neat gadget that used a small electrical current to see where the electrons flowed through the liner....worth the cost, as he found exactly where to patch it right away.
 
My pool is above ground , will it work with that? And I wonder about purchasing that little gadget….
EDIT: Holy cramp 1000s of $$$ for the little gadget😩

It will work. They put one probe into the ground near the pool, the other is on the end of a long pole. They then sweep it around the inside of the pool close to the liner. The small amount of current that leaks through the liner to the ground produces a tone in the headphones they wear. The change in pitch and loudness changes as they get closer to the leak.
