Due to my zipcode being very hard hit with COVID-19, 12% liquid chlorinator has been hard to come by temporarily. After opening, I saw that both my CYA and CH are below where I like them, so I ordered some granular trichlor and cal-hypo online and I am experimenting with alternating them (being VERY careful not to mix them ) until my CYA and CH come up to where I want them and hopefully by then, liquid Hypochlorite should be more available (as well as it being safer to shop in person). Is anyone else here doing the same thing this season? My pH usually drifts up anyway so I am getting the added bonus of the acidic Trichlor keeping it down a bit.

Is the granular trichlor pure? If not then it was probably cut with sodium bicarbonate and will not help your pH drift. You'll also have to use more to achieve your target numbers.

Hadn't considered that. Not even close to pure... "other ingredients" .. those ********! ... sigh
Not all bad I guess since my TA is also below where I want it. But I stll feel like I got ripped off.

I don't either .. I just didn't have much choice when I opened. My county is a mess with Corona and the delivery prices for liquid chlorinator are rediculous. Lesson learned.
