Hi,

When using the K-1766 salt test, does one include or exclude the drop that causes the sample to turn a red/salmon color in the salt ppm calculation?

On a side note: I’m getting a new IntelliChlor IC40 (warranty replacement) from Pentair, following the TFP balanced water recommendations and no longer relying on the IntelliChem ORP (and associated chemical recommendations). The IntelliChlor was over working, free chlorine was consistently to high (sometimes over 10) and it did not save me any effort to test free chlorine levels.

Yes, include the drop that causes the color change to red.

Tony,

As you get close to the stopping point, you will notice that the milky color will flash to a salmon color and then immediately change back to milky. The first time it changes to salmon, and stays that way, is when you stop. You count that very last drop.

You do not keep adding drops until the color no longer changes like you do with other tests.

Thanks,

Jim R.
