Just started pump

Hi! The PB started the pump on Tuesday and I don’t know when pool school will be.

The skimmer isn’t open and the pump is a bit loud.

Is it normal to have the pump going for a week without the skimmer open?

Welcome to TFP! The skimmer not open is a major concern. You need water flowing to the pump at al times. Are they pulling water only from a main drain? Is the pump pot full of water under the clear lid? How is the skimmer closed? Feel free to upload pics of the skimmer, pool, and equipment pad if you like.

No idea about the main drain. There is water in the pump.

What do you mean the skimmer isn't open? Can you post a shot of the equipment from further back so that we can see how everything is connected?

Okay so he said they only want the two main drains working. So for 10 days the variable speed pump is running and nothing goes through the skimmer basket. They want main drains to collect the debris from brushing. Tuesday they will come with skimmer basket and open that up

So long as water is going through the pump from the main drains and the pump basket is showing water in it, you should be fine, I would think.
