Jandy Heater - Check IGN Steps @ 82-85 degrees

New pool / heater (Jandy JXI400P), running on propane. Ran fine the first night. Subsequent nights it would cut out with CHECK FLOW. I backwashed and that seemed to go away. However, now the heater consistently cuts out around 82-85 degrees with a CHECK IGN STEPS error. It will run up from 65-80's with no problem then throws the error consistently at that point.

Power cycle the heater to clear the code, try it again the next day- same thing, 65 degrees to 84 totally fine then the error. Propane guy was out and confirmed correct pressure, which I think makes sense since it goes from 65 to 84 in a quick time (20-30 minutes).

Any ideas/help where to go from here? Thanks!

Welcome to TFP.

Why not make a warranty claim with your Pool Builder and give them the problem?

See pages 24-25 and work through the troubleshooting in Workbook JXi Pool&Spa Heater which is a training manual for pool repairmen.

It's a great question but since the propane hookup is the one thing in the contract I am responsible for, i'm trying to avoid a bunch of back and forth between the builder and the propane company, particularly as it takes the propane company a week lead time to come out. If the temp goes from 65 to 80s no issue, then the IGN fault, does that sound like a pressure problem?

Did your propane guy monitor the gas pressure when you got the IGN FAULTs?

You know what gas pressures the propane guy saw?

You need to monitor the gas pressures during a full cycle to see if you have some type of regulator problem that shows up after a while.

I would leave the manometer on until you get a failure to see gas pressure then.
