Hey everybody,
New pool owner here! I've been lurking for a few months and have been able to get a general sense of pool maintenance, but am now stuck. My SWG is throwing a service code 120. I've scoured the forums and have tried a few things to fix it, but am still seeing the same issue. I decided to take the prong plate off of my salt cell and dont see any disconnected prongs, but did notice the middle prong has a very minor wiggle. Is this normal?

The middle prong is the most susceptible to corrosion so that may be the issue.

I've only owned the house for 4 months but the pool was built in 2019 according to the old owner's paperwork. I'm not seeing any documentation on a cell replacement since then. I cleaned the cell with acid yesterday- it looked like it hadn't been done in a long time.

For what its worth- I recalibrated the salinity level to match my salinity tester at 2530 and the error went away. I'll add salt tomorrow to see if it goes back to normal.

5 years on a SWCG cell is great. Not sure where you live - you may want to update your location as that helps us determine if you are in an area that keeps a pool open year round or an area that may have high calcium issues, etc.

I'm in Tampa- open year round with high calcium. The SWG was set at 25% when I moved in and I kept it there for a while until it started getting hot. Thats when I bumped it up to 80%.

Do you self test your pool water? We recommend a proper test kit and since you have a SWCG it requires the additional salt test.
Test Kits Compared. - either the TF-100 with a salt kit or the TF-Pro with salt are the better value but the Taylor kit K-2006-C (C is recommended as it has the larger volume reagents) can be purchased on line however need to purchase the K-1766 salt kit as well.

Also get the PoolMath app - there is the free version and the $8 annual fee version. There is a section on it that will help you set your SWCG % output based on your needed daily loss of FC ppm.

I noticed the pool not staying as clean very long (which I thought was weird with salt pools requiring less maintenance). I assumed it was because I was learning the ins and outs of pool chemistry, but now I'm wondering if the error code has been showing longer that I realized. Does the generator shut off completely with a service code present?

Do you mean is the pool sanitized? Clean refers to debris or algae in pool. Which do you mean?

Does the generator shut off completely with a service code present?
