Hi. I have an Jandy AquaPure 1400 salt cell generator and I’m currently getting an error code 123, but only when the flow is reversed. I’ve never had a Jandy cell last more than three years, so this current cell is a warranty replacement. Jandy is zero help with this issue except for telling me to buy a new cell. I have a brand new power cord for this cell and replaced it yesterday, but I’m still getting the error. The cell does not appear to be making enough chlorine, if at all. Again, the service light and error code only show up when the cell reverses flow.
I’m so frustrated and done with the amount of money I’m constantly sinking into this pool with Jandy products (salt cells and lights) that don’t last more than a couple of years. I’m diligent about keeping my water balanced, so I don’t think that’s the issue. I’m honestly on the verge of scrapping the whole thing and filling the pool in with dirt. In the meantime, any help troubleshooting their code would be appreciated. Thank you!

Welcome to TFP.

You say you replaced the cord. How do the three pins on the cell look?

Not much else you can do to troubleshoot the cell. The cell operates half the time with the left and center pins powered and half the time with the right and center pins powered. Reverse is saying one half of the cell is not generating properly.

Cells are consumables and they will only last a few years.

How many gallons are in your pool?

How many years has this cell been in service?

Thanks for the reply. The 3 pins look great; no corrosion. The inside plates are good too with no calcium buildup. It’s a 16,000 gallon pool. This cell was installed in August 2021 and was a warranty replacement cell for the previous cell, which stopped working within 2 years. Could the problem be with the flow sensor or do you think I just need to bite the bullet and get a new salt cell? I definitely won’t be getting a Jandy. Everything I read online says they should last 5-10 years and I’m not getting anywhere close to that.

Nah, a cell is good for 6,000 to 10,000 generating hours.

On your 16,000 gallon pool that is 600 to 1,000 days. Considering your generating season is about 9 months that is 2+ years to 5 years.

It is not the flow sensor. Good luck with a different system but I think you will get similar results.
