Jan 2025 IG pool build in Georgia, need liner re set!!!!

Yeah. Inflation sucks but the pool build market definitely took advantage of price hikes. 10+ years ago the world was a very different place and pools could be built with lots of flexibility in pricing. When we built our pool in 2013, a friend told me it wouldn’t cost more than $25k-$30k to get a nice small AZ pool. We went a lot bigger and got all the equipment upgrades and it was a bit under $60k. Nowadays you couldn’t build my pool for less than $120k …
I feel like with everything, covid messed everything with pricing. Sure at the time, I understand the increases, but now we are just being ripped off, and have no other option. But I guess that's a whole other conversation. Anyway, time to get those permit pulled, and start complaining about the next step 😀

+1. Update the title as needed and we all know we need to come scope out the progress or help along the way.

Suzook's build : dig day
Suzook's build : rebar

I have a textured bench and it is thicker material there. It's doing great from a wrinkle standpoint on year 3 but it's fading fast with shallow water. Against the wall is darker from partial shade than the outer edge which takes full sun. I don't see how traditional liner material would do any better for fading.

This picture doesn't show the variation on the bench itself, but it gives you an idea of the difference between that and the wall / slope. The floor is taking a noticable hit too but not as bad.

WOW! That looks like the same pattern we are looking at, but will probably have a border. Love the dark liner, but my last pool by year 8 was faded bad.

My $0.02 is that they came about trying too hard to make vinly pools look like their fancier plaster counterparts with waterline tilles in the 80s. It's personal preference of course if you particularly like seashells or Aztec designs, but we didn't.
Love the dark liner
This one was considerably lighter than the old one and at first i loved that it was more vibrant, but the other one would now be faded to where this one started and would have bought us a few more years down the road. It's the curse of a blazing sun open yard.

Then the kicker is depending on the day, the dark liner was lighter anyway. 🤣

Blue pigments are much more sensitive to UV bleaching than any other color. The dye molecules just aren’t that stable. Chlorine + water + UV will destroy most anything over a short period of time.

Just throwing this out there.....................Happy Wife=Happy Life!!! Just saying that is how it works at my house LOL

The most life-saving two word phrase in the English language is NOT “Call 911!” but rather “Yes Dear”. Insufficient use of the latter will require regular use of the former …. 😵😵😵

Salt system ordered, went with the AutoPilot ChlorSync. Newer model of the dig220 I had on my old pool. Added WiFi control too. I'm debating having the builder plumb for 2 or 3 spill overs into pool from the 2 foot wall needed on far long side of the pool. I could do the rest of the job myself at a later date. Herews a rough markout of the pool.
