Day 1

We had shotcrete today. Same thing, they were out in 5 hours and some of that was waiting on the second concrete truck. Good luck!

NICE! Now run out there with the plans and a tape measure. Add about 8" for the steel, shell, and plaster. Is it wide, deep, long, etc enough? If not now is the time to fix or tweak.

Is that a skimmer I see right on the bench? That scares me! Someone WILL sit in front of it and it could cause harm to them or to the pump. It is suction so hair, swimsuits, body parts could be sucked in They should shift it so it is not right on the bench. it should be easy to do now.

Why are those two pieces of framing going out of the pool area?

I have a wall that will flare out to meet the decking. The skimmer box is there because we have serious constant winds in this part of TX in that direction all year. My neighbor didn’t put one there and all the dirt flows to that corner. I’ll recheck the placement with regard to stairs. I did go out with a tape measure wheel. It seems to be right on. Thanks!

Day 4
So today they are injecting, doing rebar and plumbing. (I guess the benefits of doing this off season). My husband put in irrigation earlier this year with the future pool in mind. He specifically mapped out everything and color coded wires and pipes. We were assured they would hand dig this one small area to pump to avoid damaging the irrigation. Well they showed up this morning before the PB and took an excavator and shredded it.

I had injections on mine as well. Our soil here in North Texas is very expansive clay soil. So they inject the pool shell area with chemicals that help to lessen the expansion and contraction of the soil around the pool. They also inject under new highways being built, etc.

I’m not very knowledgeable about it, but it limits potential vertical rise in the soil (we have black clay aka black gumbo). Before my yard was injected my yard was a 12 inch (I think it’s inches) PVR, after injection it was a 1. For the house they used a piece of equipment that looked like a giant fork that stabbed the ground and injected the chemicals, for the pool two guys did it by hand.

I think @pooldv had miniature sprinklers put in his soil around his pool for this purpose? I've never read anyone mention a chemical way of doing it. Very interesting!

Bubblers are a must as well, however that doesn’t touch the bottom of the pool, that’s where injections come in. I’m originally from Florida so it was definitely a learning curve to understand the soil here.

It is fairly common, at least around here if you have heavy clay soils that swell when they soak up moisture. The chemical injections basically limit the moisture the clay absorbs.
