Yeah, I'm with Hotrod to make the repair first.
When that's done, I would clear the water as quickly as possible by KEEPING YOUR FC AT SHOCK LEVEL 24/7 and running your pump up near the 40 or so gpm setting.
By comparison, my old single speed pump runs at about 95gpm and 18psi.
I have a larger pool but a single speed pump in a pool your size will typically run about 40-50gpm or so.......some even higher if the filter is big enough.
Your VF pump is running at low speed because it has no knowledge your water is a mess. Once your water is clear, you can return to your 2-3 turnovers per day with no problem. Leaving it there now is going to make your clearing process painfully slower.
