I have noticed that the pH level in my spa tends to creep up over a one-week period ( from 7.6 70 8.2). Daytime ambient temperatures are around 45-50F. Although the covered spa temperature is kept between 70-80F, it hasn't been used lately. Is this increase in the pH level typical? Thank you.

It can be typical depending on your TA. And aeration in a spa also pushes pH up. But, it can be controlled fairly well by lowering TA to 50 and adding 50 ppm of borates.

Thank you for the info! Admittedly, the TA in my spa has been a bit high (80-90 ppm). According to the article you provided, that certainly explains why aeration is causing an upward drift in the pH. I will start adding successive doses of acid to bring the pH down. Again, thank you. This site has been a wealth of knowledge.
