For the past month the hose connecting my Barracuda G3 to the wall disconnects from the wall on shut-off of my Intelliflo VF-3050 3HP pump. The pump was installed in 2007.
This is now occurring about three time a week.
Associated with this is a drop in pressure indicated by the gauge atop the Pentair 420 Cartridge Filter. It used to run at 14-15 psi, now its running at 12 PSI.
Today I cleaned the filters, the impeller is clear, put it all back together, turned it on. Everything ran, the Barracuda did its thing, but the pressure was still 12 psi. Then, when the pump shut off, the hose disconnected.
LEDs are normal, no leaks in the system, no unusual sounds.
Why would this be occurring? Is the pump beginning to see its final days?

B,

I don't think you have a pump issue, I think you have a hose or hose connection issue.

When the pump is running the hose is held in place by the pump's suction.

When the pump shuts off only friction holds the hose in place.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thank you. Don't need a problem I don't have. Today the pressure is 14 again, and the hose is connected.

There is the Hayward VacLok, and several other manufacturers. It is a spring-loaded safety cover for that suction port that also has a "tooth" on the cover that will hold the hose in place while the pump is off.
