Hello. It's been a while since I have been on here. I am sure y'all see this question a lot but I would appreciate the responses. We lost our second Intex ring pool last year and went with an ultra frame instead. We bought it at the end of June so the filter pump that came with it (I think it is 2500 gph and uses size b filters) did fine until we put it up in mid September. We had used a 2500 gph one since the first year we got the inflatable ring pool because the 1500 gph one they sent with it was too small. But that pool was 18' (bottom of pool) by 48" (to top of ring) and this one is 18' (all the way) by 52" so it is a 10,000 gallon pool. Like I said the filter pump did ok but I could tell where it would have gotten cloudier if used the whole summer. I did some research into sand filter pumps but I don't know for sure what we need.
So, the pool is an Intex Ultra Frame 18' x 52" that currently uses a 2500gph regular cartridge filter pump.
I think we would like an Intex sand filter pump (maybe because it is easier to match to the pool?) or if y'all know of one that is universal and easy to set up. We are fairly handy but don't really want to alter the pool at all. We take it down and put it away every year. I saw where one had a skimmer near the pump housing itself. Right now we have a skimmer that sits on the rail. Just an Intex attachment.
Only things I know right now are that a lot of people love sand filters and say they work well. Also, it is cheaper in the long run and we were told to use the man made sand because it last longer. I saw a chart for an Intex one that said we needed one at least 2650 for a 10,000 gallon pool. Is that correct?
So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Brand, size, any info on them. Thanks in advance!
(Let me know if I left out any details about the pool. I don't know what all information is needed. It runs on a regular socket from our shed. And we are in the South so the sun does get really hot here. Sometimes it is over 100 and very humid.)
