Intex Ultra Frame Pool- Wanting to Upgrade Filter Pump This Year

Hello. It's been a while since I have been on here. I am sure y'all see this question a lot but I would appreciate the responses. We lost our second Intex ring pool last year and went with an ultra frame instead. We bought it at the end of June so the filter pump that came with it (I think it is 2500 gph and uses size b filters) did fine until we put it up in mid September. We had used a 2500 gph one since the first year we got the inflatable ring pool because the 1500 gph one they sent with it was too small. But that pool was 18' (bottom of pool) by 48" (to top of ring) and this one is 18' (all the way) by 52" so it is a 10,000 gallon pool. Like I said the filter pump did ok but I could tell where it would have gotten cloudier if used the whole summer. I did some research into sand filter pumps but I don't know for sure what we need.
So, the pool is an Intex Ultra Frame 18' x 52" that currently uses a 2500gph regular cartridge filter pump.
I think we would like an Intex sand filter pump (maybe because it is easier to match to the pool?) or if y'all know of one that is universal and easy to set up. We are fairly handy but don't really want to alter the pool at all. We take it down and put it away every year. I saw where one had a skimmer near the pump housing itself. Right now we have a skimmer that sits on the rail. Just an Intex attachment.
Only things I know right now are that a lot of people love sand filters and say they work well. Also, it is cheaper in the long run and we were told to use the man made sand because it last longer. I saw a chart for an Intex one that said we needed one at least 2650 for a 10,000 gallon pool. Is that correct?
So, any help would be greatly appreciated. Brand, size, any info on them. Thanks in advance!
(Let me know if I left out any details about the pool. I don't know what all information is needed. It runs on a regular socket from our shed. And we are in the South so the sun does get really hot here. Sometimes it is over 100 and very humid.)

Intex makes various sand filters for their pools, and not wanting to modify, I would suggest you try one of theirs. They are famous for having proprietary hose fittings, and without modification, aftermarket models can be impossible to attach. Many members have bypassed this with some ingenuity, so I would encourage you to look around the forum Above Ground section for ideas if you consider that.

As for the man made sand information, don't buy it, as regular pool filter sand will last more than long enough, and quite certainly longer than any AG pool. By the time it might need replacing, you'll have upgraded to another model, type or size if having a pool is something you enjoy. Besides, how many other man made things have you noticed that out last mother nature?

Your 18' x 52" pool, when filled to 48" will hold approx. 7600 gallons.

Intex makes a 16" sandfilter that states it as a 3000GPH unit, model 28651EG. That would be quite adequate for your pool. I had the 14"/2650GPH system on my 18' X 48" Ultra Frame for two seasons with no filtration issues other than frequent backwashes, especially after vacuuming.

They are very easy to set up. I installed mine a few years ago myself. I had the one dom mentioned in the post above. It worked great for my 18'x48" pool. The timer was helpful. I've been looking for a new filter, as I got a bigger pool, Walmart.com has some of the Intex filters on Rollback, I think.

Thank you for the reply! I definitely going to research it some more. We usually get ours out in mid May. I don't want to get it too early because of that 90 day Intex warranty. I have heard of people being out of luck who bought something in the off season made by Intex that was damaged.

Thank all of y'all. The filter in the link is one I looked at also. I was leaning towards it. I appreciate the specs from y'all and the information. It will be nice to have a bigger pump this year. I have heard a lot about these ones. Thanks again!

On the backwash thing, is that a big problem? I have one of those catfish vacuums that is battery operated. Are you talking about a vacuum that hooks to the pump? Thanks.

Yes, I am talking about a manual vac, or suction side cleaner. Back washing and rinsing removes water from the pool, requiring more top offs.
