Intermatic PF1102T - Stuck on, regardless of the setting

So if I spin the clock around, it doesn't turn the pump on or off. This happened after my electrician came by and grounded my pool equipment.

Any idea what I might need? Calling a couple repair companies, just wondering what I'm up against. Can grounding the pool equipment cause damage?

Mac,

Pool equipment is not "grounded" it is connected to what is called a bonding wire..

That said, connecting your equipment to the bonding wire, or to ground, should not have any effect on your timer.

I suggest that you just replace the guts to the timer you currently have.

Show us a pic of the inside of the timer showing where the wires are connected.

Maybe they removed the timer pins (red and green)?

Try the manual override.

Maybe freeze protection is on?

Maybe they adjusted the freeze protection by turning it up?

Is your air temperature higher or lower than the freeze protection setting?

Try turning down the freeze protection to a lower number.

Freeze protection is set to 38F and today the air temp was in the 50s. It's been on for a few days now, even when it was in the 70s/80s the other day.

There are three possibilities that can cause the issue, bad thermostat, bad relay, bad clock.

You can check the first two with the power off at the breaker. Disconnect the two wires at the top of the relay. With a meter (or an inexpensive test light) check for continuity across those two wires. If there is continuity, the thermostat has turned the system "on." Set it to the highest temperature. Still continuity? It needs to be replaced.

If not, with the power off at the breaker, check for continuity at the relay between terminals 1&2 and then 3&4. If there is continuity there the relay is stuck (welded contacts) and needs to be replaced. Tapping on it may break it free, but it will get stuck again.

If there is no continuity at either of those test points, re-power the system. If the pump runs, turn the small knob at the top of the clock one "click" counterclockwise. If the pump stays running the clock is bad and needs to be replaced.

Re-attach all wires where they were until the repair can be made.

Are the trippers installed?

Did you try turning down the Freeze Protection to a lower number?

Did you ask the electrician if they did anything to affect the timer?
