IntelliCenter Firmware 2.026

I upgraded from 1.064 to 2.026. I had no problems except a small-ish configuration change. I should first mention my old firmware resulted in the freeze settings being removed from the spa. After I upgraded to 2.026, it again removed the freeze protection and I was disheartened by that. However after setting it again, and rebooting the panel, even shutting off the breaker (lots of testing), it never again lost the setting so I think that hurdle has been crossed. My heater was working fine before the upgrade, and after the upgrade I had to change some settings (my setup uses the 2 wire fireman's jumper switch to the J jumper on the circuit board of the intellicenter, not the 485 cable).

Other than that, no problems.

A solution not introduced unfortunately is to the freeze mode settings on my secondary VSF pump-- there's an actuator switching circuits from deck jets to PV3 (in floor cleaner). Although freeze mode does start, it does not rotate the actuator back and forth between the deck jets and the in floor cleaner (like the primary pump does between spa/pool/bubbler). So I always have to manually set the actuator switch to share between the two deck jets/pv3 circuits.

Did 1.064 rotate that actuator back and forth in freeze mode?

No. And it also did not work with my prior intellitouch that I upgraded from 6 months ago.

I have the in floor cleaning system coded as a generic device instead of master cleaner, think that would make a difference? I did this intentionally, because otherwise it wouldn't let me run spa mode with deck jets on.

Freeze protection is not designed to cycle valves other then the for the Pool and Spa. That is a special condition programmed in by default.

Freeze protection will activate a circuit which means turning on a relay, pump, and turning an actuator. But it is not designed to cycle actuators other then the pool/spa.

You can call Pentair Support and tell them about your desire to add such and enhancement to the Intellicenter firmware. Given their pace of changes I would not expect to see it soon. But you never know.

Just one small tidbit here-- freeze protection does cycle my bubbler's valve (even with the intellitouch). The bubbler actuator/valve is a subset of the pool circuit if that make's sense. So first there's a pool/spa split, and then my pool splits between bubbler and pool. In freeze protection, it appears the bubbler/pool actuator is on its own 15 minute timer, and the pool/spa is on its own 15 minute timer. Over some time they will lose precision, and I will see the bubbler actuator is on when FP has rotated the other actuator to the spa (meaning no water is flowing to the bubbler anyways, until it flips from spa back to pool). So in summary, it appears to me that any actuators on my main pump receive the rotations, but none on my second pump.

To add my experience, I just upgraded from 1.064 to 2.026 via USB with positive results. Changes I noticed were:
  1. Freeze protect setting is maintained on all circuits through reboots.
  2. Freeze protect circuit speed now overrides default circuit speed (see separate thread here).
  3. If a schedule is running, after reboot or power interruption, it resumes the schedule and restarts the pumps. (1.064 would just leave everything off on reboot)
  4. Intellicenter2.com "Schedule" display on Home screen wouldn't always show that a schedule was running, but now it does (at least so far).
I have a wired remote panel, and it wouldn't connect to the main panel until I also upgraded its firmware to match the main panel via its local USB port (not surprising). As far as I can tell, all settings were maintained during the upgrade (schedules, clock, circuits, freeze protect, etc) - so it was smooth.

Upgraded my Intellicenter firmware to 2.026 via USB on 1/24/2025. Went very smoothly and rather fast. Estimate total time for upgrade after USB stick inserted was less than 2 minutes. All seemed well after reboot. However, yesterday began getting warning on app (both on iPhone and Safari browser) that "Communication Lost with IntelliChlor 40". Not sure how to proceed to troubleshoot this. Any suggestions?

I have been on 2.017 for quite a while. I get those 'communication lost with ic60' quite a bit. Usually get a 'resolved' notification 1 minute later.

Do you run your pump 24/7? If not you will get the communication Lost error each time the pump shuts off.
In addition, your signature states you have intelliph - I will get the comm lost error on occasion when the iph is dispensing as it interrupts the ic40 comm.

Thanks for the input. Never had this issue with 1.064 firmware. I do not run my pump 24/7. The pump is set to run approximately 8 hours per day. Since I have an in-floor cleaning (IFC) system, the pump switches from 1500 RPM to 2300 RPM once a day while running the floor cleaning jets and the Pentair valve changes to the floor from skimmer. After 2 hours of IFC, the pump and valve switch back to low speed and skimmer.

FWIW, While running the IFC, the IC40 is off. The IPH is currently set to "zero" output, so no MA dispensing. I have the IC40 set to 10% just to keep FC at 3ppm. (Pool temp is 58ºF) With the IFC running, I have not noticed a "Lost Comm" warning. I will check it today.

Turn off the Notifications if they annoy you. Pentair does not have the thresholds for some notifications well thought out.

Just checked and the Intellicenter app is showing another "Lost Communication with IC40" warning. This seems to be due to the system switching to in-floor cleaning and IC40 is off during the floor cleaning cycle. Appears this notification is normal operation for the IntelliCenter phone app and online version. I will turn off notifications as it is an irritant to open the app and see a "red dot" warning for proper operation. Thanks for your help!

This "nuisance warnings" was one of those things those of us who worked on the beta for the transition from the intellicenter app to pentair home worked hard to get reduced. It is much better than it was in the early days. I have a feeling that there will be a point in the not to distant future that they recommend intellichlor to be installed always on when installed with intellicenter, like they do in the intelliconnect manual

Hmmm… version 2.026 has vanished from the Pentair website. Given a little luck there will be a new version soon? 😳
Looks like 3.002 may be coming.
