Hello!

TFP has helped me keep my pool clean for the 3+ years since I had it installed. Unfortunately I came home to a cloudy pool and no FC on 7/12. I have been following the SLAM process and I am on day 3 of keeping the FC up according to the SLAM chart. Since day 1 I observed that I am not seeing anything above 0.5 for the CC which seems odd considering I am adding a lot of FC during the SLAM process. I've never seen the CC above 0.5 or 1.0 in 3+ years but then again never been in a situation until this week where I should expect it to be abnormally high. Also the R-0003 reagent I'm testing with doesn't expire until 2023. Is this something I should be concerned about, or should I just continue the SLAM process?

Also my CYA is only 30, which isn't ideal and I would like to get it up to 40 or 50. Can I do so with the granules while I am SLAM'ing? I typically follow the sock method.

pH: estimated 7.6 (can't test due to SLAM, but it was 8.0 one week ago and I have added 4 cups MA since then)
TA: 80
CH: ~900
CYA: 30

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
Algae does not automatically create CC when it is oxidized. Ammonia based compounds create CC.
Thanks for the quick response!

This is the first time I've had to SLAM so wasn't sure what to expect with CC but that makes sense. The pool already cleared up within 24 hours so it looks like I just need to pass the OCLT.

And I will wait until afterwards to add CYA.

Thanks for the help!
