In SLAM process

To swim, you need to be able to see the bottom(safety), and the FC at or below slam levels. No need to wait until crystal clear. Just make sure you test frequently to make sure.

I'm asking bc we will be leaving town for the weekend. A friend will be adding liquid chlorine (only 2xs daily if needed) & no other maintenance will be performed. I'm hoping and praying leaving for the weekend won't set me back to the beginning, therefore hoping the SLAM process is "ended" by Friday morning.

Got 1/4" of rain last night. Only had to add 1.6 gal this morning.
It's still very cloudy.
I still need to SLAM. Lost chlorine over night and it's still cloudy. I just watched the SLAM video again.

While we are gone, should I have 2 gal thrown in each day? I think that'll give it a fighting chance (even though no one will be brushing)
Anywhere from a gallon of 10% to whatever you've been losing every day should either keep it where it is or finish clearing it. You're there, not me. You should have a feel for how it's going by now. How fast the chlorine disappears, how fast the filter loads up, how much cloud you raise by brushing.

Yay! My pool survived the weekend we were gone! Still blue but still cloudy. I'm brushing 2xs daily and checking FC 3-4 times daily. I'm adding less chlorine per pool math (which I am super grateful for).
I started this process on 7/6/19. Should I be looking into other reasons my pool is still cloudy?

Tracy,

Congrats! Can you post a set of test results? How much filtering are you doing and what is the filter pressure increase doing? How long since backwash? A set of test results would also be helpful for our experts.

Thanks.

Chris

Last backwash was Friday last week. My circulation is going strong. My pump stays on 24/7.

Sorry, forgot you were slamming but should have known from your FC level. You're right, over FC 10 pH test is unreliable. See, you're learning a lot already! Let's see what the experts say. I'm thinking you continue SLAM and continue to maintain the filter and it will clear up. Sometimes the final cloudiness takes a few days to remove.
