I have a 14x4 ft best way pool. We cleaned it out, filled it up in the water was beautifully clear for about a couple days. Started pouring bleach in. Had a little bit of a lapse where I was sick, pool got green. I have poured so much chlorine into that pool I cannot believe it's so cloudy. I dumped a box of 20 mule team borax in there, nothing. Test strip shows that the chlorine is okay range. CYA is very high.
My pool is a thick cloudy very light teal color. Help.

You need a reliable test kit.
Test Kits Compared

If the CYA is actually high, draining is likely. If the CYA is in a manageable range, you can battle the algae. Do you want to fight a 2 week or more battle with algae or would you rather drain and start over, knowing you'll have the right tools going forward to be troublefree ?

Here is the battle ahead of you if we fight

I really don't understand s l a m. Also don't want to drain 4,000 gallons of bleach filled water into my backyard It was so hard to drain the first time. Right now I'm not in the greatest health. I guess I really don't have any options. Hundreds of dollars so far in liquid bleach, I really thought I'd have a relaxing summer floating in the pool but at this point I don't really even care. Thank you for your help.

So we fight. But the CYA level may be so high that we have no choice but to drain.

Nobody ever does. And in the end, we taught them all. :)
Hundreds of dollars so far in liquid bleach,
What else, particularly with CYA ? Powdered shock perhaps ? It didn't get crazy high on its own, it was added.

All I have added this year is liquid chlorine bleach, a box of 20 mule team Borax, and one box of baking soda. Hundreds and hundreds of dollars of liquid chlorine bleach. That's it

Ok then the test strips are dead wrong about your CYA. (Again, you need a relaible test kit)

There is no CYA in fill water, and if you haven't added any, it's still 0. WIth 0 CYA, half of the FC burns off in 2 hours and it won't last long. Leading to you spending hundreds.

Order a TF100. We'll show you the way.

Also, the smart stir makes testing sooooooooooo much easier. Fun even. Either add it to the TF100, or get the TFpro which comes with the smart stir and a nicer case.

Also, the SLAM option is great for newbs and those with swamps (you are 2 for 2). Both will be testing more than normal and blow through the standard supplies.
