IG pool build League City TX

Guys finished detailing pool and we dropped two hose in the pool to get this puppy filled. (tempted to drop a 3" hose from fire hydrate in front of my house:sneaky: ) I was amazed they took the power washer to the pebble finish. I was thinking you had to baby this stuff. I going to drop my first bottle of Startup-tech, looks like 500 gallons or so already.

It does need to be babied in some ways such as no wheels as they can cause ruts/tracks on the new plaster. In other such as you saw it is okay because they hit all of the plaster so it was "even".

That color is looking great so far!

Good Morning,
So going to enjoy drink coffee by the pool in the mornings :coffee:

I tested the water this morning

PH 6.8 or lower, color was really light yellow
TA 50ppm
CH 150ppm when doing test the water didn't turn red more like pink. It's that normal?
FC .5

I might have added a little to much acid yesterday I think.
I'm going to put in some Borax(20Mule) per the pool math calculator. It's saying 8lb 10oz. I should put this in a little at a time?
Also going to add a little Calcium Chloride may be 4lb just to bump it up a little and get to brushing. Then wait a few hours to see what my numbers are.
This sound about right?

The pink is normal. It’s not a true red.

Per pool school: “Borax is available as 20 Mule Team® Borax Natural Laundry Booster. It is sold in the laundry detergent section of most larger grocery stores and some big box stores. Borax is best added by pre-dissolving it in a bucket of water and then pouring that slowly in front of a return.”

Calcium hardener is spread in the deep end and mixed up with a brush. I think the start up card recommends getting TA at right level before adjusting CH.

Be sure to pick up some baking soda to raise your TA.

Here’s a copy of the NPC plaster start up card.

How fast does Chlorine burn off. My numbers seemed good this morning but now I'm not picking up any chlorine. Can it burn off that fast? This is my water test from this morning.

I know it’s been a week but I chlorine can burn off fast, especially if you don’t have any CYA. Get your CYA up to keep the chlorine from getting zapped by the sun. How are you testing your water? Where did that print out come from?

I was wondering where the print out tests were from. The numbers are far more specific than the TF-100. Speaking of, what are your results from your own testing? Hope it’s all goin well.

That pool came out so great!!!

How is the plaster color coming around? Have you seen much change?

With no CYA it is very normal for the sun to burn out most of the FC.

Kim (trying to figure out why I am not getting alerts for all of my threads gurrrrr! sorry for the delay in my answer )

Hey Jb, its call Pool Boys on Calder, They have this fancy computerized system that does all the testing. There numbers are pretty close to my test results with the TF-100 except for my Cl that is usually .5 or 1 lower than my results. They are not very pushy trying to sell you there products either. The water test is free but I think everyone does that.

Thanks Kim,
We are really happy the way it turned out, the color looks great, there a few spots I was worried about but those cleared up. I still have a few items that I need to finish but it very enjoyable.

I'm slowly trying to bring up the CYA , and in a few day the salt will go in.

Didn’t even know Pool Boys existed and I used to drive right by there all the time. I’ve been going to Leslie’s at Victory Lakes to get my water tested. I do all my own testing with my TF100, but I have to occasionally get my water tested for my Pebble Tec warranty. They are hit or miss. Sometimes they are close to my results, sometimes they are quite a bit off. They haven’t been pushy, which is nice, and I’ve never bought anything there. I have seen people spend a good bit of money on chemicals while waiting for my water to get tested. I want to tell them about TFP but I figure that may be kinda rude.

Get your CYA up to 70 when you get that SWG running. It really helps protect your FC from getting used up by the sun. My CYA was at 60 and I was having to run my SWG at 45% to maintain my FC level. Once I bumped it up to 70, I was able to back down to 40% output. Hope you got to enjoy this sunny weekend.

I have been to that Leslie one time to compare the test from pool boys since it is closer. The test was very close but it is more subjective than the computerized system. They did try to sell me some hardener for calcium and other items so I haven't been back.

I will be my connecting my SWG this coming weekend so I do want to start getting my CYA up slowly. I'll shoot for 70. What did you use to raise your CYA? I have use E-Z Clor Clor Save since they have that at Pool boys.
