Yeah that's probably old school advice from the single speed days. It stood the test of time, but could prolly use an asterisk. I've seen my PSI as low as 2. Not only would I not see the 3, it would be time to clean at a 50% increase.

The CYA is obviously working. Tested my FC today and it’s at 9.5. >.> CYA is a solid 70. Which makes sense as I’ve added 70ppm worth to the pool so far this year.

I did, and that’s what increases my PSI by one at 3000 RPM. (From 15.5 to 16.5.)
It has taken similar amounts in the past in my sand filter.

Two days later, no increase in pressure. But that could be due to the clarity of the pool. Very clear under the solar cover.
FC is holding at 9.5 so I turned the cell down to 8% output. pH is still 7.2 as well.

Current turbidity test looking pretty good. Pretty strong chloramine smell under the solar cover, though. Needs to breathe but I’m afraid of taking the cover off and having half the pool immediately evaporate in the cold / dry air. 
Taking the robot out of the pool between cleanings is definitely helping with the cord not being tangled, though.

Cover at night definitely - remove for a few hours during the 'heat' of the day if possible. Even if you can do this 2-3 times weekly, it will help with the chloramine smell.

Exactly that. A small CYA sample mix measured by weight for comparison.

Ok, dissolved. Tried to do a quick test but it came out at less than 30. I think I need to let it sit. I poured a quarter or so of it into a Tupperware container to let it sit for a day.

I do keto but I have never measured my food on a scale. Only with measuring cups occasionally. Thankfully it’s just a choice for me.

Still seeing the dot at 30. Gonna give up on this. Neat idea but I’m thinking the precision needed to make a reasonable sample size just isn’t something one can do with cheap scales.

I think it’s worth the $6.50 to just get the already made one if it’s something you struggle with. Once you see what it’s supposed to look like you’ll be eagle eye from then on

Well the DE must be doing something. At 1700 the flow was impeded enough to trip the heater flow switch. I backwashed and the heater came back on. So - will add more DE when I can.
Also - the WaterGuru is reporting increasing FC still. It’s usually low if anything and is now reporting 8.5 ppm - I’ll get an actual measurement when I can but for now I turned the SWCG down to 4%.
