IC40 replacement

Apologies for me being MIA...

I ordered a new IC40 because
1) I don't have time now to take care of the pool myself...(hopefully in near future)
2) I thought it's better to have extra one as the original one is almost 6 years old (and probably never cleaned)

I see in some YouTube videos, that after turning off the system, they de-pressurize the filter (?), then open IC40 to replace
Would you please help me undestand this step?
Show us your equipment pad - filter type/brand etc.

After you let the air out of the filter you remove both black collars on the SWG to remove it, then follow the cord to where it is plugged into the control center and unplug it. Plug in the new cell and re-attach.

I believe you are supposed to shut of the breaker when switching plugs. I did not when I replaced mine, but I’m not sure that was a good/safe idea. I’m sure others can weigh in here.

Thanks everyone for all the help!
I followed the instructions (open filter to de-pressurize, cut the power, remove the old one, put new o-rings, lube them, and put the new unit in).
Here are a couple pics of the 6-year old unit which was never cleaned. I'm going to keep the old one and practice cleaning on it

It's only been running for 2 hours now...salt level is about the same as before (5000ppm)
Do you have a taylor k-1766 to confirm salinity? If it is that high you will need to do a partial water exchange as that high salt can cause damage to the new salt cell.

If you maintain the pool with the Recommended levels & manage your CSI you should rarely need to clean the cell. Cleaning your cell with acid reduces its lifespan & should only be done if truly necessary.
