I think I may have a leak somewhere. What is a good method of finding the leak? I am new to pool ownership and the forum. Had one bad experience with pool store, so now TPF is and always will be my go-to.

About how much water loss per day are you having? Sometimes the easiest way to find it in a large pool is to let the leak play itself out and wherever the water level stops dropping, you know that's the height of the leak. However, depending on the location of the leak, this can waste a lot of water and lead to down time with pool circulation (added inconvenience). One method to seek out leaks is using a dye in a syringe to check for leaks underwater at common leak locations. I have used red food coloring in a syringe (no needle) with fairly good success to locate a leak in a skimmer. Check out this video. Swimming Pool Leak Detection - Continental Pools Inc. - YouTube They use a special pool dye for leak detection but food coloring seems to work OK for me. Make sure the pump is off when doing so to make seeing dye possible.
Common spots for leaks: all areas concerning the skimmers (faceplate, inside corners and edges of skimmer mouth... basically any corner or edge in a skimmer), previously applied patches to the liner, any underwater edge in the pool such as stairs attachment trim, pool light trim, return trim at fittings... etc.

I'd chalk that up to evaporation for now but don't ignore it. Perform the bucket test and confirm.
