Do you have your test kit yet? If no you need to order it first thing in the morning! You are going to have water fast now!!! SWEET!!!

Some helpful hints for day of filling
  • Do they have all the proper return nozzles and drain covers (type and color) to place after plaster installed
  • Have you tested your fill water? Are you filling with softened water or regular tap water?
  • Have your hose ready (and clean) as it will be laying in the pool.
  • Tie a sock or cloth around the nozzle so it does not sit on the plaster. Also, consider tying a plastic jug to the nozzle such that it will float up as the water rises.
  • Make sure the hose is put at the lowest part of the pool.
  • Do NOT stop the flow of water once it starts as it stopping it could cause a ring on the plaster.
  • Ensure you take note (or a picture) of your water meter reading before you start to fill
  • Be prepared to take note of your water meter as the pool reaches certain levels, i.e bottom of bottom step, top of bottom step, etc. (it helps in the future to know volume of your pool at certain levels - should you ever have to drain portion of it)
  • Plan to set an alarm every 4 hours (or so) to ensure hose is still in pool, no debris blew into pool, etc.
  • Take a picture of any chemicals they bring on site that they plan to dump in when they start to add water to pool
  • Continue to fill pool to center of water tile or center of skimmer. Take picture of water meter at end of fill
  • Get clear instructions from PB as what to do the day the pool is full - how often to brush, will the pump be turned on, etc.
Define with PB when he will be back out to set up water chemistry

I bought a liquid test kit. Taylor tech

All jets and drains will be white to blend with the cool white mini pebble with blue jewels.

I've had a pool in the past so start up and water chemistry is no big deal. We also switched our auto fill to softened water.

We will fill the pool with regular tap water.

Thank you for the info I really appreciate it.

Looks like they grouted between the coping and tile with a cantilevered deck. My grout got a crack all the way around, they patched it twice under warranty. I finally went around with polyurethane sealant. I hope you don’t have the same issue.

Ill keep an eye out on it. If it does I'll just fill with sealant as well.

Haha thanks. We love the pool as well... can you believe a pool company told me it was ugly and so 80's. Than presented us with a simple rectangle pool for $60k. Laughed and told him to leave my house. At that moment I said I'm managing this build myself and here I am diy.

We didn't even think about grout color. Once we get closer I'll ask to bring some samples.

As for the shotcrete I have it on a timer/sprinkler set up for every hour since it's so hot out right now.

We are getting pebblesheen installed Aquablue to keep it bright.

The color of our pool deck will be on the light gray side with the coping more of a concrete color. So I'm thinking a white grout will look best but I'll see what the wife thinks.

Thanks for all the links, I appreciate that.

What pool vacuum is best from your experience?
Omg so nice. My build is a nightmare (removed by Mod) and they are trying to blame everything on supply chain issues for shotcrete. That doesn’t cause rusted rebar and caved in walls lol.
