so I allowed my poor chemistry to get completely out of whack for like two weeks. Now I am trying to fix my mistake.
My CYA super high so I replaced about 60% of my pool water (and I’m kind of confused as to how that happened. I do use the pucks when I’m on vacation but the rest of the time I used liquid chlorine. I have used some shock – – I guess it has CYA in it? I’m in PA and my pool is only open for five months a year. During the winter it rains and snow. I really had trouble believing the number I was getting. That was part of the problem and why I let it go on too long.). Then I began a slam. My pH was good before I started. My water is blue now instead of green but still super cloudy. Chlorine is still at slam levels. (3 days in. I have a sand filter) My TA is too high at 220ppm. Should I add acid now? Or retest once my chlorine is normal? But I’m supposed to keep the chlorine high until the pool is clear? I know I’m not supposed to believe pH number while the chlorine is so high. Maybe TA is the same? I would appreciate any advice.
