Help with levels...

If it is not producing chlorine, I suggest returning the unit to Amazon (if that is where you bought it). I see a few Amazon reviews and at least one TFP poster stating that they had the same problem, false high salt when the salt was perfect.

Before you return, can you catch some water coming right out of the return to see what FC is coming out of the SWG when it running and shows the high salt error. Compare FC to a sample from the opposite end of the pool.

Yeah...it's very hit or miss. I've already started the return...was just hoping it would settle down.

What would the FC reading out the SWCG during a high-salt situation give me? The FC level shouldn't affect the SWCG at all should it?

If the FC level coming out of the return is higher than the FC on the other side of the pool, this would lead me to think that the SWG is producing FC, but that you might have organics consuming your FC.

Another thought, conduct an OCLT and that will rule out whether organics are consuming all of your FC.

Hard to believe the range is that large. I follow the instructions exactly and use the exact amount of water each time.

Seeing that each drop is 200ppm, that puts you at +/- 1 drop out of 16 drops average, or about 6% error with the instructed 10ml sample.

I find the same with my pool.

I guess one could use a larger sample for finer resolution, but I have no idea of the conversion factor for the reagents, or if it would even be reliable.

It all boils down to the SWG and if it is happy with the salt level. The cell will put out the same amount of chlorine whether there is 3000ppm or 3600ppm of salt.
