HELP -- New Plaster, white streaking

Looking better and expectations are subjective.

It looks like 2024 quality that many folks get.

It will not change much without intervention.

Follow your startup process and give it 6-8 weeks and then let’s discuss.

I see some white mottling, but doesn't seem too bad.
As mention previously, the color and appearance of plaster is never uniform like paint. There will always be some mottling and some contrast. That is the way it always is. The amount or degree of mottling is affected by whether the workmanship is good or poor. In a month, may be able to determine At this point, brushing may help prevent further mottling.
You are doing good with the startup.

I suggested to PB that the pool service company he was using was not worth the $800 he was spending. So PB and I are talking about this in morning. Pool service company flaked two days in a row about adding Calcium Chloride, and wanted to leave a bag which they did not do. So, calcium still at 150, and no Stablizer yet. I do have 2-3 pounds which I can put some in a sock, and see how that goes. PB seems to be impressed at how much I (and really TFP) know, including NOT adding chlorine at shallow end, like pool service company did Tuesday. Made extra hard as not much English with pool service company.

So, I may be adding Calcium Chloride and CYA tomorrow, Wednesday. EDIT: i have a sock hanging in front of an outlet in deep end tonight, Tuesday.

Thanks again for your continued thoughts and help!

Here is what happened so far
Day 1 - Just hour away from full, so pool service not doing anything. Just put a tiny amount of liquid chlorine poured in. No brushing or vacuuming by pool service. Brushed by me. Pool service said to keep normal acid 7.5 and chlorine levels 3.
Day 2 - Sunday so no pool service. Vacuumed by me with a triangle brush vac, supposed to be ok for new plaster. Brushed by me.
Day 3 - Vacuumed and brushed by pool service. A bottle of sequestrant was put in. Vacuum was wide flex one with wheels. Added some chlorine and acid. But it didn't need much, since I had been also. Brought 25 pound bag of Calcium Chloride, but said they were not going to do that day, would put in on Day 4. I brushed also.
Day 4 - Service arrived with no Calcium Chloride. Said they would go to store before closing at 3pm and bring it back. Wanted me to mix up half a batch, yesterday, and second half batch five days later. Pool service guy apparently did not want to spend the extra time at that part of the day. I agreed. No calcium chloride showed up. Vacuumed, and I think brushed. I brushed some also. I started my own CYO sock.

Almost no dust at this point.
PB and I talking this morning about pool service, he is amazed at my knowledge on this (thanks to TFP). PB is not very knowledgeable on water maintenance, he lets pool service do it.

Thoughts on past?
Suggestions for future? I need to add CYO and Calcium Chloride.
And keep brushing for 25 more days or so?
Wheeled manual vacuums? Or use my triangle brush one?
And when could I use The Pool Cleaner, or small Matronics Dolphin I have?

Thank you so much !

No need to mix anything up.

Just slowly broadcast the calcium on the surface of the pool. As it dissolves broadcast some more. If any settles to the pool floor then push it around with your pool brush.

Calcium products should be spread across the surface of the deep end of the pool. Do not mix calcium in a small bucket of water. Calcium is exothermic and will generate heat when mixed with water to where it can cause burns or fires.

Past is all done. Move on.

Yes, take control of your pool. You know more then the builder and service guy. Fire him.

And keep brushing for 25 more days or so?

Yup.

Wheeled manual vacuums? Or use my triangle brush one?

Why no wheeled cleaner for first 30 days? Plaster is sufficiently hard once the pool is full of water. Pool cleaners can be installed and utilized after about two days if there is no plaster dust forming. The reason that tracks develop is usually from plaster dust being "packed down" by the pool cleaner wheels and then not removed by brushing. So it can look like an "indention" (and discolored) but it is not an indention. Brushing afterwards can help prevent the plaster dust from sticking on the plaster.

And when could I use The Pool Cleaner, or small Matronics Dolphin I have?

Why the rush? Wait the 28 days.

The PB just fired his pool service, (well, maybe fired just for my pool). I now have access to his account at nearby pool store. General public not allowed apparently.

Most chemicals can be found for less cost at the big box stores - muriatic acid, liquid chlorine, calcium chloride, salt - are all generally available and don;t need a special pool store.

In other news, the PB wants to offer me a job. (I'm retired.) Really he does. I think really high of his business, and have offered advice to him when I thought he could improve. He sincerely wants to please and make the customer happy.

I'm really not sure what I can offer him, but he wants to meet and talk. Intriguing to say the least.

I actually did some comparison. Hardness Up (my name) was 33% more at Leslies. I didn't see it in 20 or more pounds at Home Depot or Lowes. And CYA is cheaper at the "PB only" pool store, compared to HD and Lowes.

New pool plaster and with new tiles.
Pools filled with water 1 week ago.
I had some white clouding, and white splotches, but nothing serious, PB and folk commenting on Constructoin area here said that things looked pretty good, and no problems.

Today's numbers after adding chlorine more than 1 hour ago.
Chlorine. 4
pH. 7.5
Calcium 290
TA 70
CYA. Some low number, I'm still on first sock.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

You can fill more than one sock and put them in the water at the same time.
