Do you have pressure? Is there water coming out your return? If yes to both then your golden. If not i will explain the multiport and spider gasket.

Ok this is what happens.

When i backwash it does perfect.
When i rinse it does perfect.
When i switch to filter it does good for about 10 minutes then it slowly gets less and less suction. I just checked it and there is a little water coming back out of the thing that shoots the water back into the pool, but way less than normal. But i see stuff in the return going in slow circles but there is no "tornado" of water in the middle like there used to be. There is briefly after i go from backwash/rinse to filter, then it goes to almost nada. Pressure gauge still says 0.

BTW i finally got my DPD. Jule, yours should be there soon too!!!! But, my levels are not my immediate problem. But, i have it when i need it at least.

Ok, I think there is a blockage. We can rule out anything before the filter because you can backwash and rense. Since you covered the white vertical pipe is not blocked by sand and even if sand got into that pipe it would probably just shoot out into the pool. That leads me to suspect the Multiport. The multiport is the big valve that you torn to chge to backwash and filter, etc. it is the thing you took off the filter to gain access to the sand. Underneath that valve there is a gasket called the spider gasket. It is so named because it looks remotely like a spider web. It has a round outer ring and inside the ring there are holes which match up with holes in valve. Their combined function is to allow water to go into the hole that leads to the pipe that the lever on top of the valve is set. So here is what you do. Take the top off the filter (that is the multiport) like you did earlier. Look inside and see if you see a gasket or it could be stuck to thr bottom of the valve, so turn it over and look for it. It will be the spider gasket make sure it is linedup so the holes in Tim match the holes in the multiport valve. Now whe you put the valve back on be sure it is oriented the way it was in the picture you posted earlier. Let us know what you are seeing and take pictures.

Jule yeah I know baqua can make maintenance easier I was just referring to the fact that I didn't go, with it when we got our pool as then I would have found this Site and then would be going through this also I have some friends that switched over also and I remember the frustration and expense for them but that was before I or they knew of TFP

This is what it looks like. The "gasket" doesn't seem to come apart or rotate or move at all. However, i made a discovery i think. That white tube in the middle. I wasn't thinking that it had to do anything but be there. I didn't match it up with the lid's little tube (gasket). Am i making sense? It may have not been connected. could that be the problem? I just put that lid back on and didn't match it up with the white tube in the tank.

Yes I bet that is the problem. Put the top back on making sure to match it up this time. If you have any gasket lube put some on the rubber gasket around the top rim as seen in the third picture.

Yeah i'm all out of gasket lube. Used the last on my 67 GTO when i got some big wheels. LOL. Sorry Txmat. I was being a smart-elic. But in a nice way. Ya'll know what tools i have, besides the duck tape and pony tail holders that is. :|

Put it back together. It's been about 6 minutes and it's doing great. I prayyyyyyyyyyyyyy that was the problem. Will keep checking.

HOnestly, i mean this, i thank you all so much. The tears were flowing again today, but WE DID IT TOGETHER!!!!!

Well i hope it's fixed anyway!!!! LOL

To think......the store wanted $150 for that! If it's flowing now, I'd bet that was your problem. Toe's are crossed for you!

Thanks!!!!! Oh and Leebo did you see? I got my DPD today!!!!

So i guess the plan should be....add the cya wait about an hour? Then add bleach? The reg amount? I don't change cause i'm using CYA right?

Yeah right? My GTO wheels NOR my lid is leaking!!!! Oh happy day!!!!!

I'm gonna add that CYA stuff. I had put 4 of those bottles in my buggie but THEN i saw they were 20 bucks a piece!!!!! I hope i don't have to add that often!!!! I just got one bottle.

The pool is churning it's little heart out. Thirty minutes it's been going so i'm thinking it's fixed. *struts a little

I want a CYA level of 30 right? So i add 40 oz of the CYA, correct? It's powder form i think.

Ya'll need to buy yourself something real nice for sticking it out with me. And THEN tell yourself that is a little gift from me. LOL

I'll be honest with you....if you bought 4 bottles of that stuff I would have to say I'd dump some baquacil back into your pool as a punishment.

OH anddddddd about the gauge. I was looking at it and you know that little piece of paper that has the numbers on it behind the hands that move? It's bent. I bet it got knocked when the lid exploded. So, yeah another gauge. That's not so bad. Believe it or not i know how to change that!!! (Someone told me at the beginning of the thread). I've already done that once!!!

Use the pool calculator just as you would any other test. Adding 30oz of CYA will raise your level up to a 20PPM. Even this little addition will help you hold chlorine in your pool a TON more than your current 0 level. I would suggest even adding 40 ounces and going with a CYA level of 30 for now. Keep shocking your pool at a 15FC level. Add bleach whenever you can now to keep it at that level until your water clears up. It shouldn't take long. Add DE to your filter as well until it clears up.

For now.....what are your FC and CC levels?

If you bought the powder version put it in a sock and tie it in front of the return (where the water comes back into the pool). It will take about a week to see the results on the cya test.

ps....as Txmat stated, tie a sock with the powder in front of the return and just let it dissolve on it's own. Give it a squeeze every now and then. You can add CYA and chlorine into the pool at the same time as well. Don't bother testing the CYA until Monday at the earliest. :D

It's actually pebble looking stuff, not powder. But ok. I'll see what i can do. Ya'll think of the darnedest things for me to do next. If you told me to do something really out there and were kidding, i'd probably do it. LOL
