I was tired after work and not focusing apparently, salt generator isn’t working so I’m adding chlorine for now until PB gets back to me about replacing (newish pool so still under warranty luckily). It’s been raining quite a bit and haven’t tested chemicals in a few days. Went out and tested today, FC super low. Was supposed to add like 107 oz of liquid chlorine and ph was a tad high, was only supposed to add about 19 oz acid. Wasn’t paying attention and added a Darn ton of acid. Pardon my French. Can I add a bunch of baking soda or something to reverse it?!?! Help please?!?!?

So your pH was 7.8 before the "oops" moment correct? It should be plenty mixed by now, so I'd do another pH and TA test to see where you stand and post back. Also, don't forget to update your signature when you get a chance. :)

ok. Thanks. I'm still showing 50 TA and now it looks like 7.0 pH. Could be 7.2 Or in between. Hard to tell indoors at night in my not very brightly-lit house. Also, i wouldn't know if it was lower as my test kit (the Taylor big boy one as I like to call it) lowest pH is 7.0.

FC up to 2.8 at least. woohoo.

Also, my signature? How do I do that? Isn't that the pool info I added to the left?

You are not the first to make that mistake.

7.0 to 7.2 pH is fine and will not damage anything. 50 TA is also fine.

Leave it alone and let your pH rise naturally.

If you want to raise your pH a bit then aerate the pool.

Also I see the signature now in the settings. Disregard. Here’s what my pH looks like. 🤷‍♀️

Ok thanks. But what if it’s actually lower? My pH test doesn’t show lower than 7.0?

You're probably fine to wait for the pH to rise on its own.

You can add about 4 to 7 lbs of baking soda if you want.

What is your CSI?
Oh thank you. I see now that I could’ve turned that on to track in PoolMath app. I have now. It was 0.0 five days ago. 😭 now it’s -1.04. I’ll recheck everything in the morning before work. Thanks for your help everybody!

The TA should have gone down by about 20 ppm, so something seems a little bit off.

I would probably add about 5 lbs of baking soda if the pH is still low today.

When the pH is at 7.8, I would leave it alone.
